So I've decided to self relax. My roots aren't going to make it another 8 weeks so I decided not to torture myself anymore. My hairdresser annoys me to no end so, you guessed it, I'm doing this.....

I used the search and couldn't find a thread that explained step by step how to do it. Can someone point me to a fotki or thread that explains what to do?

Also, any recommendations for a blowdryer/brush to use while blowdrying?

Thanks!

ETA: I won't be offended if you just post the link. It's an EMERGENCY!

Check SouthernGirls Fotki for Self-Relaxing Tips. In the meantime I'll try and find it for you & bump it up.

I used a combo of Southerngirl, Lonei, and London Diva's relaxing tips. Check their fotki's. Good luck!

Thanks guys! Running to go check out info.....

oh lawd, delta_gyrl! you gon' do all that hair yourself?!!

Uh-huh I know exactly what your talking about delta_gyrl. I was forced to self realxed too by following the fotki's mentioned above.

Stylists would scold you for waiting so long and maybe even charging you extra. When I would get touch ups ,it would come to about 60 bucks. Well bump that! I went to Walgreens and bout a 8.99 box of ORS No-Lye relaxer and did it myself and I feel the results were great.

Anyway good luck with it and I am sure it will look great. Take pics if you can!

So I self relaxed last night and though it's not BONE straight like my hairdresser gets it (I have to develop my technique), I'm pretty darn pleased with the results! :D
It's kinda big so I'm going to flat iron it so I can see my progress. Kinda disappointed in the length (don't see much difference) but it's definitely FULLER. It's swangin' and blowin' in the wind. I feel like a hair model.

Thanks guys for all the help/advice.

I'm proud. I didn't think I could do it.

I'll be obsessing looking for breakage until it's time to relax again, I'm sure.....:perplexed

I used Silk Elements.
