I hit APL last month, but I'll still contribute. My length check is my avatar.
Um...all I did to get here was protective styling. I wore my hair out maybe 8-10x from when I hit SL (May) to APL (Jan). I wore my Chade Afro Puff or my HZ 7009 half-wig and sometimes, I wore my hair in snoods/beanies. It was always in twists or individual braids pinned down with my bonnet or a wig cap on top. Oh and I moisturized and sealed at least every two days.

Well I checked my hair my a couple of days ago by straightening one of my braids, and I made it!! Praise the Lord!!! 
I wore wigs for the most part of my two year hair journey. From SL to APL, I just kept my hair braided and moisturized either under a wig, or currently in box braids. I took vitamins, washed 1-2x per week, and spritzed twice a day. I also put a little vaseline on my ends to keep them moisturized especially when I'm not wearing a wig. I dusted/trimmed (probably too much) about an inch or so off last year, so it took me almost a year to go from SL to APL. 
I think it's good to be consistent, and stick to what works. For me, simple works best. Congrats to the Feb. APL Grads!!!

it seems that way for those of us who get average growth. i've seen a few who get there in less though.

@sj10460 It could be less, especially if you are short. I'm 5'1 and I'm pretty sure I could be there from SL in 6-7 months.

You ladies are inspiring me so much!! I set a crazy goal of grazing APL by my 1 year nappiversary on May 31. I have about 2-2.5" to go. Don't know if I'll make it, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

MsLizziA: haha. I know what you mean. I'm dreading taking down these two-strand twists I've had in for 2 weeks and that is absolutely nothing compared with removing/detangling a long-term PS.
I plan to blow-dry and straighten next week so I will see. I lightly flat ironed a twist in the back a little over a week ago. I am definitely there when I stretch it, but I want it to hit my armpits without having to stretch, and I had less than .5" then. So I am hoping for next week (2 weeks later) or the end of the month at the latest.

Congrats ladies!!!! im hoping to be there by the end of April (i have something very important to do).... however more than likely i won't be there until around June...... this picture at the bottom is old (around October) so my hair has grew longer than this.. I cant wait to flat iron my hair in April and post pictures cause i know i will be either there or really really close!!!!
