I was just about to make a steam roller post! I just got Caruso's, which are on sale at Sally's, and I LOVE THEM  !!!

I can't really vote, since I haven't tried the others. What I like about the set I purchased was that it had many sizes and was really easy to use. Maybe it was beginner's luck, but I had a perfect set, no frizz or anything...I was really skeptical about them working on my hair, but it came out great.

I've tried both the Carusos and the Vidal brand steam rollers and they both work great.

how much were the carusos at sallys?

how many rollers did they come with?

is this it?

Honi, can you please tell me how much the vidal ones were?

was it this one you bought?

I paid about $25.00 for them (There's a coupon at Sally's for $4 off). They come with 30 rollers I believe. The name is Caruso Molecular Hair Rollers.

Yes...I have both the pictures you posted. The Vidal steam rollers I got online at Target. It was $19.99.

The Caruso's were less than $30.00 from what I remember. That picture that you posted looks like an older model. That one you had to use a pinch of salt in the water. The newer ones don't need salt in the water.

I miss my old model WITH the salt. That one pumped out alot of steam.

I ordered these from Amazon.com I can't wait to try them out. They should be here today. I read about them in Carolyn Gray's book and decided to give them a try.

OneInAMillion....I wish I would have known they were at Sallys! You got a good sale price!

I have both.

I started out with the Carusos, but I've lost the steamer, so I replaced it with a Conair set. I still use the Caruso rollers with my Conair steamer and I think they work equally well. The only difference that I noticed is that the foam on the Conair rollers is stiffer/heavier so I have to let them steam a little longer than I did when I first bought the Caruso rollers. I need to use them a little more to break them in. But other than than I have not noticed any real difference.

There's no heat applied to the hair, just moisture from the steam. The steam coming out of the vent is hot but the curler itself is not. This is healthy for the hair because it infuses moisture into the hair.

I love the Caruso system, although I haven't tried another brand.:)

Can natural heads use steam rollers?

Yeah, that's what I'd like to know. I'm 4a and am wondering how they work still. Would I have to put frizz ease on my hair or some type of straightening balm to keep it make it straight while using them?

Does the steam come out of the roller of the little box thingy?

I'm  .

hmmm .. :scratchch

Im getting interested in these again...

I think it would be a great alternative to blowdrying (direct heat) because it uses steam. Do you know how they work?

The rollers are placed on the nozzle of the steamer, then left to "heat up" for a few seconds. Then, you remove the roller from the steamer, roll up your hair, and place a plastic roller cap over the roller. This holds in the steam. You leave the rollers in for a bit, remove, and you're done. Only catch is you have to heat each roller individually.

I've seen these things around for years, and I'm so interested in getting one (like somebody mentioned earlier, Sally's has them for $4 off!). But I don't know where I'd store this thing. I have too many products under my bathroom sink! LOL:lol:

Thanks so much for answering me. I am 4a and I don't know if they would really straighten my hair. Plus it seems like the roller would get cold if you have to wait for the other ones to heat up. Like, you put one hot roller in then put the cap on and you have to wait for the other rollers one by one.

Am I understanding you correctly?

I have been avoiding this thread  I am on a personal challenge not to purchase anything that isnt a NECCESSITY. This is gonna be hard becasue I really want to try these. Well, I'll see if I still want these in a couple months.
