Familiar Spirits are Demons. masquerading as humans. Demons have the ablity to allow you to see them when they transform into something that is familiar to you. Their only purpose is to keep you lost. It can only work if your open to it. Which as Christains we are told in Isaiah 8 what will happen to the people who consult mediums for directions. They will get muttering and chirping which will only lead them futher away from the truth or any truth
19And when the people [instead of putting their trust in God] shall say to you, Consult for direction mediums and wizards who chirp and mutter, should not a people seek and consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?
20[Direct such people] to the teaching and to the testimony! If their teachings are not in accord with this word, it is surely because there is no dawn and no morning for them.
21And they [who consult mediums and wizards] shall pass through [the land] sorely distressed and hungry; and when they are hungry, they will fret, and will curse by their king and their God; and whether they look upward
22Or look to the earth, they will behold only distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish, and into thick darkness and widespread, obscure night they shall be driven away.
Demons have the abiltity and the power to keep a person lost. They can show up any time and also take possession of even you. That is why we are told to guard our hearts and minds and ears. Be careful what you watch and what you allow to come into your home.
Familiar is something we know and something we are use to. Demons use all manners of ways to confused and destroy the human being.

14 And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic[c] and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16 So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.”
17 Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” 18 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.

Yes, A demon is only restricted from anything protected by God so please get the elders of your church or a church you trust and ask them to pray over the child and annoint the child. The family, the house, car, school, daycare to cover all these things in prayer. THen continue to pray over the child.
Now I wouldn't just let anyone pray over me. No because who is to say what God they are praying to so please find someone you can trust and you know they are walking in the footsteps of Christ. Pray that God leads you to an Elder to pray for the child. My prayers are certainly with you.

WOW. They taught something different in ministry school. That's not how I learned what familiars are or their purpose for that matter. But ok. I'll reserve my comments. ETA: It is more complicated than what has been state that's all. I think you should extensively study demonology and compare it to the Holy Bible then you will get the answer that you see.

I'll add that if you can't find someone that you feel comfortable asking to pray for your child then fast and pray and ask God to also send someone if you need them.
There is a strange thing that has been happening to my children especially my son. It started as a baby. I would have a strange dream about my in-laws, mainly my father-in-law and it would have something to do with my son. Next morning my son would be sick or I woke up with him screaming having fallen off the bed. Sadly, there is a lot I can say about my in-laws that would make one wonder, since sometimes... it almost seem like they like my children being sick and a few times after the dreams it's like they were ... expecting(????) I know I'm rambling, I'm trying to say something but it's hard to explain. Fact is they are the most deceptive Christians I've come across. For years I ignored my gut feeling for what my eyes could see, but my children would literaly come home with a strangeness about them when they visit them. I don't know if it can also be linked to the term 'famillial spirit'. Don't even know if I should have mentioned that in this thread. It's just that after praying about it, something in this thread seems to raise a flag.

Does your husband believe you? Make excuses why they cannot see them...a ball game, museum..something. Follow your gut.
Thank you so much for posting this. I am in a very similar situation and until now I thought I was the only person going through this. My children rarely get sick, but I have noticed a change in my oldest child's attitude when she is around certain people in my husband's family. It started last summer when I had my twins. A few nights before they were born I had a dream that my oldest child was in our front yard playing with two blonde snakes. I totally forgot about the dream until I was in the hospital. I immediately knew who the two blonde snakes were. From that moment on my child became very cold and standoffish towards my parents and in particular, began to say very mean things to my mother. The two people who represent the blonde snakes do not like my mother and have gone out of their way to be very mean to her including lying on her. It took a few months before my child was "ok" again. Needless to say, I am very cautious with my children around these two people. The issue is that my husband does not see what I see or if he does, he doesn't say anything.
In this particular situation the child is now a young adult. The "poisioning" began when the person was very young and now, as a young adult, the person exhibits some of the same negative behaviors as the person who has influenced the behavior. The person who has influenced the behavior seems to be very proud of their accomplishment and at times has condoned behavior that most normal people would view as disrespectful and unacceptable.
Mrselle, spirits prey upon children often due to their innocense and vunerability. The 'covering' has to come from the parents and respected leaders of your church.
Now the devil fears 'YOU' which is another reason why he picks on children; he getting to you by preying upon your child. (Using 'you' in general sense).
Parents must openly dedicate their children to the Lord. Praise God for His presence and rule over your child's heart; put them under the Blood of Jesus. As Hannah dedicated 'Samuel' unto God, parents today must do the very same; dedicate they children unto the Lord.
At night lie upon your child's bed in prayer and allow the flow of God's presence with flows through you to flow throughout the total being of your child. Keep the presence of God flowing in 'your' home, and tell the devil he has to leave. 'Your' child is under the Blood Covenant of Jesus and no evil shall befall the fruit of your womb.
Bless your child and dress them in the full armour of God.

The breastplate of righteousness... They have the Heart of God the Father
Their loins are girded about with truth... 'Sexual Purity'
In their hands they have the sword of the Spirit... They are always armed and ready with the Word of God, a two-edged sword which cuts and tears asunder all unrighteousness.
Their feet are shod with the preparation of peace...They live and move and have their entire being in Jesus Christ our Lord. Always in His Word --- their footsteps are ordered of the Lord, always at the right place at the right time... God's time at all times.
Walking in righteousness and bringing others to know the love of God. The very depth and breath of their being, walks in Jesus, lead of His Blood, lead by the Holy Spirit in the paths of righteousness for God's namesake.
I prayed for my babies [my son and daughter] like this EVERYDAY and every night. And though they are grown, living on their own, I still have them covered --- and each time they are with me, they bow their heads, ready and waiting for their KNOW that the prayers and the annointing oil is coming.
The devil knows... not to touch my 'seed'...my children or my babies (my grands) I do not play.

Shimmie, thank you for your wisdom. The bolded made me smile. I have a friend who joins hands with her husband and daughter and they stand in a circle to pray together. Before each prayer they both lean their heads forward because they know she is getting ready to annoint them. Whenever I am with her I find myself doing the same thing because I know before the prayer begins the oil comes out.

when we think about demon possession being unique but it is not. When a person cannot stop smoking that is a demon at work, or addiction to drugs and pornography. Thats demons at work, its not just people acting strange and the worst thing is when people have already let the demons in and we do that with music, television programs. unhealthy conversation, our choice in where we spend our time we allow more demon possession to enter in.
Early suggestion still apply, we must see Elders to pray over us. We must pray for ourselves every single day and get rid of all things that takes a hold of us. If its our children we must do all we can to cover them. I pray for my kids and they are all grown now every single day. Even if they are home and running to the store a prayer comes off my lips.
You can get some olive oil and anoint their bed, their cell phone say they put it down to do whatever, you can do this as often as you can with whatever, Cover it with the Holy Spirit so that the enemy(Satan) cannot use it for his purpose.
Demons are very real and they have power and they are getting stronger and stronger and we have to get stronger as well, in the word, to defeat them and overcome everything they push at us. I would go to my daughters apartment and annoint it. pray over the oil first then use it as often as you need to. Pray for the people that wish you harm, Pray that the lord blocks all they even think to do, that the holy spirit will cause them to forget their purposes and just pray for them, that they are healed and the evil spirit has no power over them any longer. I did I was told that I was going to go out to the market and get a bullet, Imagine, Just imagine. So I began to pray for the person that was all I could do. I didn't know the person never met them, never spoke to the person and if they walked up to me I wouldn't have a clue.
But I believe the holy spirit has blocked that. that was about six months ago.

I have to thank you. Sometimes I feel so alone. My husband wants my children to grow up knowing his family so I have to take them there every week. @Guitarhero I truly have had to depend on God for 'excuses' but I have to take them there so often that there isn't enough and I have to leave it in God's hand. At least my husband now admits somewhat to their ways but declared he just hoped that we all 'got along'
That meant me putting up with a lot of...evil (I can find no better words) for years.@Shimmie thanks. I have learnt God is faithful when we cry out to Him, but sometimes I do get so weary when the situations seems so immovable.

Um, I'm sure there are scriptures you can give to him regarding his duty as husband to please his wife. He has to put YOU FIRST.

You better believe I've given them to him
He's come a loooong way. His parent's knows how to pull his strings and when I finally had enough of their nonesense, I foolishly tried to deal with it the wrong way. Then my Heavenly Father corrected me. I may get impatient sometimes, but I believe even the dreams are God's way of warning me and letting me know what to focus my prayers on.
