I haven’t posted in years. I’ve been here since 2009…

Since when have 4c hair turn 3b-c ? With out a chemical or henna treatments possibly…

clearly this person has 3c-4a hair to have these ringlets….

I need answers ladies…

A lot of it is marketing. Stylists, brands, YouTubers, etc., have realized that hordes of 4C naturals will flock to anything that promises to turn their hair into a looser type/or reveal their “true” texture... Because 4C hair is apparently transient. You just have to deal with it until you figure out how to properly moisturize, or whatever.

I honestly believe hair typing is meaningless, because other factors have much greater impact on the hair’s appearance than curl size. However, my shea butter mix, gel and a Denman-type brush easily turn my “4b” kid’s hair into what is pictured here. And funny enough, I use the exact same products and technique on my “3b” kid’s hair, with the exact same result. People are so confused when they see their “real” unmanipulated hair.
