Extremely slow growing hair

I haven't texlaxed since February and I have only gotten about 2 inches of growth since then. My thyroid is fine and I eat pretty well. Haven't been using any growth aids consistently, but I do massages. I had no idea my hair grew this slowly until I decided to texlax. Having been on LHCF, I feel like this is abnormal.

Any ideas about what I can do?

Drinks lots of water, take daily multivitamin, exercise and wash you hair a little more often.

how often do you clarify? maybe your hair is just going through a slow growth stage. Does your scalp seem healthy? The only other thing that I could think of would be to increase on the growth aids or to just see if your growth increases with the season change.

You might receive your growth spurt in the Winter. My hair grows at a snails pace during the warm months and as soon as it gets cold my growth really takes off. I would say I get over half of my yearly growth in the fall/winter months!

Yes, exercise; avoid junk food (it basically takes the place of what would have been useful food); eat wholesome food high in protein, antioxidants and vitamins; massage your scalp.

Most importantly: STOP looking for length, progress, whatever. Hair grows best and fastest when you ignore it. (Kinda like a boiling pot.)

How would I know if my scalp is healthy? I don't have dandruff or anything. I remember someone saying that a mushy scalp is good for growth. My scalp is not mushy, just skin over bone.

I tried MT, but that didn't do much of anything. Maybe I will try MoeGro.

Thanks! I will keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks Nonie. I'm starting to wonder if going vegetarian will help because I eat lots of animal protein and it doesn't seem to help. I am taking a calcium supplement now, so maybe we will see some difference.

OP, my hair grows just as slowly as yours. I've done enough reading up on this and I think all we can do is drink enough water, eat well, get enough sleep (cuz that messes up the growth cycle too), exercise/massage and leave it alone. Aside from those things just try to retain all that you can.

I agree with Nonie about not checking for length so much. I got my best growth when length wasnt even on my mind.

cardiovascular exercise and a diet high in protein (plant and animal sources) will accelerate your growth, in my experience.

Sunshine, eating protein and taking vitamins is of no use if your blood isn't delivering them to the areas you want to see them to do work. This is why exercise and massaging the scalp are important to keep your circulation at its best. So if you aren't doing some aerobic exercise program and regularly, it's time to change that. Do you do scalp massages?

If you're getting most of your protein from animals then definitely up your veggie intake. My doctor just told me this morning that vegetable protein is usually easier for a bodies to breakdown (and you avoid the fat that comes along with eating meat).

Your hair grows that slow and everything is okay healthwise?

I am going to exercise more. I thought I was doing pretty good. I did notice a bit of a growth spurt when I was doing Callanetics.

no, my hair grows about .25 a month if that much sometimes:ohwell: Healthwise, nothing wasnt on point. I'm anemic, would go weeks without veggies or fruits, get very little sleep, no water, and no exercise.

Keep us updated on your progress.

THYROID!!! I'm 24, and I see a lot of people in their twenties grow hair more quickly than I ever have. Shoot, my 61 year-old mother's hair grows quicker than my hair. Guess what? I have an underactive thyroid. You might want to get your thyroid checked.

(I've always had what people would call "nice length" hair, but it grew slow as the dickens. Now, I know why).
