I was doing every 8 weeks but I'm quickly going back to 6 with no regrets. My scalp gives me too much trouble if I wait longer and the newgrowth is totally out of control.

DigitalRain, how quickly does your hair grow? You must have some miracle-grow hair if it's out of control after 6 weeks. I ain't mad at 'cha! Wish it was me, actually.

Yes. I'm trying to deal with it, but It ain't working. I'm too quick to jump on the bandwagon when I hear some good advice. my hair is so nappy it's like a 6a!

@6a! Sorry, AnnDriena, but I have you beat there, because I, my dear, have the nappiest hair in creation.

Nah, its just that my newgrowth is super coily/nappy and coarse as heck. It tangles pretty badly. It takes quite a while before a Super relaxer can break it down. When I wait 8 weeks I've got a good bit of newgrowth to relax, but my scalp becomes very itchy around that time and I end up with an ultra sensitve scalp from scratching that won't let me keep the relaxer on long enough to relax my hair. I'm sick of underprocessed hair.

Going back to six weeks would allow me to relax my hair with out all the scalp issues.

With the vitamins I'm taking, I'm getting 1 inch growth per month and having to touch-up that often.

I debating whether I will go back to six weeks instead of eight. I had a lot of new growth and my hair came out underprocessed in some areas.

that's how it was for me before I decided to transition. My hair is very thick and it would tangle easily, I'd be forced to relax every 8 weeks so I wouldn't lose my hair!

My max is 8 weeks. At that point I notice a bit of shedding and I can't reach my roots. I can't risk coming into work a mess. LOL.

I think mine is bad, I have tired and tried to extend my relaxer and it just doesn't work. When I was going to the salon regularly, my stylist would trip every time she relaxed my hair, in awe

that it had only been 5-6 weeks.

yeah, I cant even go to the salon over 4 weeks post relaxer bc my stylist will try to get me to get a perm bc of my crazy *** new growth...if I leave it up to her Ill be bald by the end of the year...lol.

8 weeks is my max.My hair ususally grows out quite fast( I start feeling new growth 2 weeks after touchup) and it is also 4b so my new growth is thick and dense. After 5 weeks it starts getting into unmanageable territory.By 6 weeks no styling product helps me at all.It gets quite difficult from there.

Same here! After 6 weeks it's down hill from there.

It's good to see someone can relate.I always marvel at those ladies who speak of using gels and such to lay down the new growth. That concept doesn't exist with my hair.

I can just barely make 8 wks. It looks and feels like a nasty mess at or after that point. Talk about not being able to comb or even feel my scalp in the top and back of my head.

Yeah, I'm w/you guys. I usually go about 6wks b/c of the shedding. My hair is actually used to 4, but I stretched it to 6. 8 would be max (haven't gotten there yet) but I'm satisfied w/6.

8 weeks is max for me. I used to go 6 weeks but my hairstylist suggested I get a touch up every 8 weeks. I get some breakage and shedding. No matter how much deep conditioning and moisturizing I do, my hair is unmanageable. My styles don't last and I just don't like my hair when I'm at 8 weeks post-relaxer.

Thanks ladies. For a while I was thinking that I was caving in too quick at 6-7 weeks and putting my hair at risk because I saw a lot of ladies were stretching their touchups. But after looking at your hair albums, I don't feel guilty. Your hair looks great!

WOW SCASEY!!!

Your hair is beautiful!!! You're proof that you don't need to extend your relaxer to achieve more hair growth!

I have always been an every 4 week relaxer until this last relaxer where I actually was able to extend to 8 weeks. That's the first time I've ever been able to do that. However, during that last week & a half, there was a bit more shedding than I would like to have seen. I'm going to try the 8 weeks again this time and just use the Surge and maybe moisturize a bit more. I don't think I can go past 8 weeks though.
