Question Expiring Membership

My membership will expire on Feb 17 and, as I understand it, I
will not be charged through PayPal anymore unless I initiate it.

Question #1: More of a clarification - I will not be automatically charged
once my current paid membership has expired, is that correct? Or will
I have to go to PayPal subscriptions?

Question #2: Will I still retain my unpaid registration once my paid
membership has expired? That is, will I still be able to log in as an
unpaid registrant from time to time as I did before I paid?

Just weighing my options for the time being. I just realized how
close I am to the end of my membership here.

ive recently subscribed and if my memory serves me correct i think it automatically renews membership without you initiating

My two-year subscription ended in January and I was not charged for a renewal until I initiated by myself. It might be due to the fact that PayPal cancelled my original account because I wasn't using it. Dunno...
I procrastinated on renewing it so for a few days I was still registered but as a lurker who only had access to a limited amount of forums. I could see threads mostly in the hair care section, but not the health, ET, pregnancy forums, etc...

To be sure, you should go to the Paypal subscriptions area on their site and make sure LHCF isn't listed. You can cancel the subscription there too.

Thanks everyone. Nikos said something about auto-renewals being
stopped but I'm not sure if, as a subscription through PayPal, if
PayPal would just attempt to pay it. Dunno how it works but I will
check PayPal if I decide not to renew.

I'm still on the fence about it. The camaraderie and vibe here has
me feeling ... well ... anyway ...

And MrsS , your response is what I was looking for. If I decide not
to renew I wanted to be able to come as I did before I joined and when/
if the tone of the board is ... different ... I may re-join.

Just having such a hard time with negativity IRL and this was supposed
to be the one positive thing I could have just for me.

Thanks again ladies.

Kiki0130 At some point we started cancelling all the recurring transactions in Paypal (there is a way to do it en mass). Due to logistics we had to stop that process at the time.

When you pay with Paypal, it automatically creates a recurring transaction. You will need to cancel that if you do not want to be charged again next year. This only happens with Paypal and not Google Checkout.

Every time that a recurring transaction is about to happen, Paypal will send you relevant warning emails about that. The process is not perfect but that is how it works.

I would suggest to everyone to cancel the recurring transaction just to be on the safe side. This way you are the one that will decide when/if to pay.

HTH and hope you will stay :)

Hi Nikos :-) . Thanks for clarifying this for me. I later realized that I
misread/misunderstood my membership status. I checked my PayPal
history and realized I registered for free in February but paid in July
(smh, gotta get back to my Hooked on Phonics) so it looks like I'll be
here at least until then.

You and so many others have been very helpful and kind. That's what
keeps me around.
