Excited, yet somewhat discouraged

hello ladies! I hope everyone is having a good day. This weekend I straightened my hair after taking down my braids to find out that I have reached my first goal of having my hair reach my neck (it was previously a little past my ears). I got really excited, but then discouraged because it doesn't really look healthy. The ends are very thin, and I think breaking, which has always been a problem for me

I'm unsure if I should change my signature to say that i've reached my goal, since I did state that I wanted healthy hair. Oh well

I agree with elite_chiq. Don't worry about the breakage. Do a slight trim to gradually cut of any damaged ends which may be causing the breakage. What is your braid regimen? My hair was breaking for a while there and I just kept going. And now it's softer and has less breakage. Each time before you rebraid do a protein treatment to strenghten it.
Edited to say: my breakage was caused by me and a misapplication of product...don't ask.

Don't be discouraged. At least you know that something you're doing is working because you are gaining inches. Just try to alter your routine a little bit to try to combat breakage. Don't worry about the thin ends, some people say B-5 is supposed to help thicken the hair. I'm not sure if it would help the ends, but Good luck and congratulations!!!!!!

Thank you ladies! I am excited, and I am hoping to grow my hair longer than its ever been, which is only the base of my neck! Thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks faith, I do use protein treatments before I rebraid, but I thought ORS was a heavy duty protein which I found out that it isn't really. So i've switched to Motions CPR, and hoping this will help. When I wear braids, I spray it daily with a water, infusium 23 leave in mixture, as well as use s-curl daily. I was doing the no poo washes twice a week, but no hot oil treatments before. My hair is soft, but theres just little pieces that keep breaking off.
