My hair, what is wrong with it?! I have this nasty patch in the front of my head that has a nasty white sticky build-up film on my roots. When it is wet the air hair sticks together and feels hardened. I'm embarrassed to ask but could this be lice? It's not really itching there or anything. Maybe I should see a doctor if this continues?

I noticed the whiteness after I pretreated with amla oil for the first time when I CO washed on Thursday. (That was the only new product I used. I also used Vatika and M...j tail early this week but I didn't notice anything.) At first I thought I put to much in and since I didn't use shampoo maybe it didn't rinse out well. So today I didn't use it and clarified with PM Shampoo Two and so on. But after I got out the shower, it was still there! WTH? It was sooo gross. I didn't put any extras in my hair but the usuals and I'm letting it air dry to see what it looks like dry. So far it's still there. Has this happened to anyone before? I need serious help. Please PM with any suggestions if you've dealt with lice before.

I definitely don't think that's lice.

Maybe the oil you used is the culprit. It might take a couple good clarifying washes to get whatever it is out.

Once I tried the vaseline method and got a little carried away and had really gummy weird areas in my hair. It took me a little while to wash it all out.

So, again, I say try using a clarifying shampoo or method of some kind.

Maybe it's product build up. If it is, a clarifying shampoo like L'Anza Deep Cleansing Shampoo should get rid of it.

It sounds like a skin sensitivity of some kind to me - psoriasis perhaps.

It is NOT lice.

Lice aren't sticky, and they don't look like build up, they look like small white bugs (almost like a weevil) and they tend to congregate individually, not in patches, on the actual strand, not so much in the scalp.

And they itch like CRAZY....you don't have lice. But do see a doctor. It sounds like you have a skin condition of some kind triggered by the Amla oil.

sounds like the adult version of cradle cap. I forgot what they call it in adults, though. I agree with everyone else, have a derm check it out for you. .

THAT'S IT! I'm throwing this away!

I think I got a bad batch or something because I have this white film in my hair again. It's only when I pretreat with Dabur Amla Oil.

I feel sorry because my hair does feel more moisturized and has more slip to it but it's not worth this white cr*p laying in my hair. Seeing as though it was a pretreat, I rinsed my hair thoroughly 4x after that and that sticky stuff is still there.

I'm very tempted to buy a new bottle directly from an Indian store but I'm contemplating if it's really worth...NOPE!
