Ever Wonder What Happened to the 12 Disciples?

"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19)

After Jesus gives them the Great Commission, what happened to them?

I knew about Paul and Peter, and recently learned Thomas brought Christianity to India (which still exists today as Syro Malabar Catholicism/Christianity). Had no idea about the others until this showed up on my FB feed. Most suffered martyrdom. It still amazes me that we have billions of Christians today, over 2000 years later from these men.

Thanks for posting!

I heard about this for the first time just a couple of years ago when Pastor Jentzen Franklin mentioned the 12 on one of his televised sermons. I was in total shock to hear about the Disciples' tragic death.

@ the bolded is a reminder that the enemy cannot stop the plans of God.

Persecuted but not Forsaken....

In Luke 10, Jesus appointed 70 of them to spread the gospel. St. Mark, companion of St. Peter, founded the church in Egypt, nowdays, the Coptic Church, died in Alexandria, Egypt, 68 AD. I had never truly thought about it before but that's a lot of disciples he commissioned! And to think almost all of them were murdered (original 12) and probably many of the 70.

It's interesting that John, the "beloved disciple" is the only one who escapes a violent death. John is also the only one of the 12 who kept vigil by His cross with Mary and Mary Magdalene. He was also appointed to care for Mary by Jesus.
