This is a good way to think about it! I will have to start doing this. I don't feel like my edges have made any progress, that's for sure.Some times more than others.
When I get to that point, I usually choose to start ignoring length progress, and just focus on health. Am I taking the right care of my hair? Am I stressing it somehow? Do I need to change up my routine/products? Am I taking care of myself? Eating right? Getting enough water? Filling in any nutritional gaps? Avoiding unneeded stress?
And if the answer to all of that is appropriate - then I know that I'm doing the best I can for my hair, and all I have to do is be patient, and it will grow.
