Okay, i was NOT expecting this stuff to be in the solid form. I've read here that its used for pre-poo, moisturizing, etc. but how?

Should I melt it 1st for a pre-poo? What about for applying as a daily moisturizer?

Just scrape a tiny bit off with your fingernail. It melts instantly. Or just let it sit in a warm area. It melts at 76 degrees. It will turn to liquid.

Do not microwave it!!!

Scoop some in you hands and rub them together and it will liquefy.

You can use it for pretty much anything: Pre-shampoo treatment, conditioner, add to DC's or conditioners, moisturize, seal, slick your hair down, lotion for you body, etc.

Coconut oil is one of the few oils that can penetrate the hair strand, just do a search on it and you'll find numerous threads about it.

Even though it appears "solid" what you'll notice is that it is incredibly soft and pliable and will melt in your hands or in a mix. Dont' be afraid to work with it. Apply it directly to your hair, it absorbs quickly. Mix it in your mixes. Use it as a Conditioner. It is very user friendly and it absorbs directly into the Cortex of your Hair.

Thanks for this! Mine has been sitting in the cupboard for the past two weeks 'cause I just didn't know what to do with it.:lachen:

EVCO? EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL? The warm weather will melt it soon enough as will rubbing it between your hands. Best to buy products you've really researched before doling out the cash or you'll have a cabinet full of dust laden products sooner or later.

I love EVCO! I use it for everything (pre-poos, conditioning and sealing). I also use it on my body as well.

I've def done the research. Sometimes I read up on a product and know that I want to try it, but I don't do the appropriate bookmarking or subscribing or searching.

I'm glad that you ladies chime in with the tips even if its an overdone topic. The favor will be repaid whenever I know something. I dislike it when I and others get told to "use the search feature" like I don't know it exists.

I think you'll really enjoy using this. It's all natural. It will Complement everything you are currently using very well. It penetrates the Cortex of your Hair, which is good. I think Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Avacado Oils are the basic foundations to creating good quality haircare products to use on your hair especially if you suffer from any sort of dryness.

Shea Butter is good as well. As you'll notice, all the "Commerical" Health & Beauty Products are trying to 'cash in' on these ingredients, (and you know they are only using a drop or two and the rest is artificial fillers. So what could be better than having 100% and mixing (creating them yourself). Enjoy!

Well sometimes people really do need to use the search feature, especially when it's an overdone topic. If there's already 30+ threads on a topic, and you start a new one, you can't really be mad if your thread only gets a couple replies. Like when someone starts a thread called "what is cowashing" or "tell me everything you know about henna"...umm there's some super long threads about those already, you need to do a search.

Also, I've found that using the LHCF search and google (which is the best IMO) will uncover information relating to the topic that I may not have thought to ask or that others wouldn't have thought to tell me. It really is helpful to do a search. You get more info that way and you don't have to wait around for folks to reply to your thread.

i love evco. it was my bestfriend when i was relaxed and my hair seems to still like it now that im natural. i've used it to seal in moisture, use in my deep conditioners and an overnight treatment. it keeps my hair shiny, soft and strong. i love it. this summer i will also continue to use it on my skin.

...totally respect your opinion, all I was doing was stating mine. I think you also make a valid point.
