Ends look less worthy when flat ironed

Why is this? Even when they look good airdried and rollerset, they don't look nearly as full when flat ironed.

I feel the same-but I am stretching/transitioning so not sure if this is why. Actually I rollerset yesterday and only float-iron the roots and my ends look decent enough for me to wear my hair out. So in my case, maybe the flat iron is too much for my relaxed ends, think its just making them weaker. If I decide to flat iron root to tip next time, I am going to use the comb chase method and see if that helps

Funny you started this thread. I literally was just in the mirror deciding how much I was gonna cut off because I'm not feeling my ends too much now that I've flat ironed. :ohwell:

I'm confused because I've been blowdrying or rollersetting my ends straight & I've been loving my hair. I go & flat iron for the 1st time in months & I feel discontent. *shrug*

I'm guessing in my case it could be reversion? My roots have reverted some so it may be making my ends appear less than perfect. I guess I should wait until I relax to see.

Supergirl  If that's UNimpressive and not full, I wanna see impressive? Yes, I looked at your Fotki something I rarely do.

My ends look just the same as the rest of my hair, but I don't flat iron. I blow dry and very rarely get pressed w/ a comb. They look the same. Shrug. I'm natural, so that might have something to do w/ it.

Thanks--but I don't have a lot of flat iron pics in the fotki. :)

how often are you flat ironing?

I flat iron no more than 4-5 times/year.

oh. Well hmm Idk then. Do you feel like flat ironing is thinning your hair out? I know your a pro so the heat isn't up to high right? What kind of flat iron are you using?

Anywhere from the 320 to the 360 to the 380 setting and the result is the same. I have 50-11 flat irons and it doesn't matter which I use, still the same result. If after flat-ironing, I roll the hair for a few hours or overnight the ends look much better by the time the rollers are out, same deal if I wrap it or bun it after flat ironing. Weird, I know.

Hmm. Well have you tried bumping the ends slightly and then wrapping your hair? Kinda simulating what the rollers would do. I have no clue. Like I said this happened to me relaxed and I thought it was cause my hair was damaged. Well it was and overprocessed too.
