I just found some hair in my rollersetting bin () so I want to make my own clip-in weave pieces (just found out that Sally's sells them). Now my questions are:

-what type of thread do I use?
-what kind of needle do I use (hair weaving or regular?)
-do you split the tracks?
-how do you take a bit of the shine out?

Thank you in advance. I wanted to wear one of those quick weaves but it just didn't look right and the color was off ... hence the emergency (for my son's graduation tomorrow).

Also, for the future, does anyone have any reccommendations as far as which type of hair lasts the longest and is not so sparse (or is it supposed to be like that?) but has that relaxed texture (not super silky) ... I am sooooo clueless with this and I don't want to stop my regimine (C&G) so I figured the pieces would be good for me since the quick weave didn't work.

TIA!!!!!

I have made my own. i prefer the professional ones, but mine worked for the time that I did use them.

-what type of thread do I use? I used weaving thread, but some are not thick enough. I made sure i got something nice and thick

-what kind of needle do I use (hair weaving or regular?) I used both. The curved weaving needle was not sharp enough IMO. I went to a craft store and got a nice sharp strong straight needle and that worked better. The straight one was easier to get through the holes on the clips.

-do you split the tracks? the tracks I used were not that thick so I just used them straight. My professional ones are double wefted which was better. Each piece was thick and I did not have to used as many pieces.

I did try it with a track that was really too thick. I was unable to split the track w/o losing some of the hair so I gave up on that.

-how do you take a bit of the shine out? The hair that I used was not too shiny. I think that just has something to do with the type of hair.

yeah what she said!!! :) And i hate to see women with shiny korean- straight weaves. If u gon rock a weave, then please get the new texture that they sell. i dont know the name of it but it looks like relaxed hair.

Thank you for responding HoneyDew!!! I just went out bought some Yaki hair that matches my texture and I sewed one clip on the track and tried it in my hair. It's really quick and it was in pretty secure. I am going to have to get another needle though, because the weave needle that I got will only fit through the holes on the end of the clip. Are you suppose to or do you thread through all four holes across the top or just the ones on the end?

Also, the hair I got had barely any shine to it ... matched my hair perfectly!! :D

If you can find the name of the new texture could you let me know? I think the one I got matches my hair pretty well; not silky, with the relaxed look, and not so shiny.

I just did the ones on the ends. It seemed to take too long otherwise.

And the professional sample piece that I bought before trying to make my own were only using the end holes.
