Elmers Glue + Lace Front = H.A.M.

Crackers Phinn

Either A Blessing Or A Lesson.
I saw some ish today......LAWD!!!!

I'm at Starbucks and I've seen this asst manager before. It's a black woman mid 20's and normally she's wearing a busted extra shiny synthetic weave or a type 1 ponytail with crispy type 4 hair pulled back into it.

Today, she was wearing her sbux hat and from far away in line, I was like damn why are her edges gray? When I got closer it looked like there was uncooked rice caked onto her sideburns and I was seriously thinking it was lice.

I knew I couldn't be seeing what I thought I was seeing so I was like, let me get to the head of the line so I can see what this is but bump what ya heard, I wasn't orderin nothin.

Ole girl had a lacefront wig on and what I was seeing on her sideburns was caked on white glue that had dried in the hair.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE.

I'm still a little queasy but I figured I stood in that long *** line I might as well still get the coffee. Since she's on the register and not making the coffee I ain't gotta worry about drinking any dried glue.

So I look ole girl in the face when placing my order and peeped the rest of the LF application. This is when I notice that she's got a line going across her forehead. She did not cut the lace in the front of the wig. She glued it on so that it was half way down her forehead and put foundation over it to match it to her complexion. But she didn't have foundation anywhere else on her face so her forehead looked like there was moist putty on it and the rest of her face was dry.

While I was waiting on my coffee I was having an internal debate as to whether I should ask to speak to her privately and let her know what was up. But at the same time, I'm nowhere near being a LF expert so I wouldn't even be able to recommend a clear glue or even how to cut the lace down. I know that if I was feeling sick looking at her sideburns then the folks who didn't know what was going on her head had to be thinking that she's just dirty and that it was just some mutant negroid form of dandruff going on in her sideburns. Next thing you know, the black folk unemployment rate is up cuz of a jacked up lacefront application.

I tried to get ole girls attention but she stayed busy on the register. I waited a bit and it just wasn't looking like I was going to be able to speak to her so I left.

I'm normally anti-taking random people in the streets pictures, but if there had been anyway for me to get a pic of this application I would've. It really had to be seen to be believed. There is nothing natural about a line across your forehead and crumbly glue bits at the temples !!!!! NOTHING!!!!

There's enough YouTube Videos, magazines, tutorials out there to learn how to do a half-way decent lacefront.

I don't get it.

How could you not know to cut the lace?

That is a just awful. I am so glad she was not handling the products because there is no way I could have ordered either.

I blame the most recent synthetic lace front ads. I think it's Sensationnal. They have shown lace wigs applied without removing the lace at all (to cheap to cut the lace on even one wig for the commercial or the photos for the packaging). I guess some people think that they are not to cut the lace.

My mistake - it's Janet collection lace wigs that have photos of the wigs on models without the lace being cut.

Naturalobe, those advertisements....Have mercy! Now that is just some kinda wrong on all fronts! (no pun intended!)

I have to do a double take on that one. Where was her mama at?

Why, would she have made things better? I haven't kept up with them but IIRC her mom used to be the one to blame for some of the awful outfits Bey wore.

oh my!!! they look ridiculous, like alien heads:lachen:
sorry but that woman (in OP) just sounds like a complete mess:nono:

I Actually saw someone with black bonding glue all around her lace front:( it looked ridiculous.

I had been wearing regular wigs, for the last 14 months, transitioning.

When the BSS did not have any cute wigs, I :perplexed gulped and bought a cheapie lace-front, for 60 bucks.

Fast Forward...

I am in love. I trimmed the edges, my hair is in 6 braids to the back, and my short lil edges I gel down REAL good, with black gel, then I press the lace 0nto the my edges. I never put it on my forhead, but 1/3 cm away from my hair line. The gel holds it down good.

I didn't like the fact the hair had so much movement in the wind, so I brushed just a faint amount of grease into it, to give it some weight.

I plan to protective style (hide in these cheapie cute wigs, til I have transitioned for 3 years).

Hope I helped someone.

GREATEST...STORY...EVERRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

i have a synthetic LF, and the packaging doesnt show the lace cut, but the insert shows you how to cut it. it even came with tape...i don't use it, but it's there!!!

there is no excuse for that hot sh*tty mess under that cap.

Such a vivid description. I was cracking up through the entire post.

"uncooked rice" "mutant negroid form of dandruff" "moist putty"

I'm sorry, but WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF :ohwell: :nono:

  lmao....

See, foolishness like that kinda makes me prefer the days when lace wigs were 'exclusive' and selling for over $500 a pop. At least then, people made sure they put their wig on properly and took care of it....

Nowadays, everybody and their granny is wearing a BSS lace wig and its not always a good look :nono:

^^I liked the exclusivity too. I had no idea that celebrities were wearing them for YEARS before they became mainstream.

I always thought they had a really good weave and/or extensions.

What/who set off the green light to make lace fronts affordable and open to purchase for any 'ol body??
