Hello everyone! I hope you hair is healthy and growing!!

I use Elasta QP Feels Like Silk from time to time. I recently ran out, and purchased a new bottle. At the store, I DID notice that the Spanish writing that is usually under the English on the bottle was missing. Later, when I got home, I compared my last bottle with the new one, and I noticed a few SLIGHT changes in the ingredients. So now I am hoping that it is as effective as it used to be. Or, do they have two different products? Which I doubt, because there is no difference in the name and product description on the front of the bottles. I guess only a true hair care lover would notice this!

Does anyone else use this product? If so, do you know about the ingredient change? Thank you in advance! I will list each:

*MY LAST BOTTLE* ~ Glycerine, purified water, polyquaterniun-10, PEG-75 Lanolin, quaternium-23, steartrimonium hydrolyzed collagen protein, panthenol, polysorbate-20, fragrance, imidazolidinyl urea,DMDM hydantoin, FD&C Blue No.1. ***

*THE NEW BOTTLE*~ Purified water, glycerine, polyquaternium-10, PEG-75 Lanolin, panthenol, polysorbate-20, fragrance, imidazolidinyl urea, DMDM hydantoin, FD&C Blue No.1.***

I really hope this is as effective as the last formula. Though I don't use it often, it is great to use when I am wearing my hair a bit curly...

I used it a while ago but I couldn't deal with the activator like smell. Luster's ShortLooks Gel'N has done the job for me and there is no smell.

yes, I use it on my hair when it is damp, and it enhances the curls and adds shine. I also use it every now and then to add definition to my hair when I wear it straight-- it kind of "separates" the ends. It can also be mixed with other products or used alone to wear your hair in a bun or ponytail. It only takes a small amount, and it does not make my hair sticky, nor to I experience build-up with it. I was also thinking of trying it when I air dry too.

Feels Like Silk is the only "gel" that I have ever tried and liked. I have never put gel in my hair before. It also helps retain moisture. I have not noticed an activator smell at all, but maybe because I only use a small amount. I love it!

I just pulled out a bottle of feel like silk that I bought in NYC in the summer of 2001 and the ingredients are the same your new bottle. Maybe you were buying old stock before. I find that the feel like silk in the black and white bottles is thinner than the orange and white bottles when Elasta Qp was called ElastaCare.

I have purchased three bottles since I started using it a year and a half ago, and they all had the same ingredients... this last purchase was the first time I got the other ingredients. I will call Elasta tomorrow to inquire about this. I'll keep you posted.

I use it on my hair when its damp - usually after I've washed it and towel dried I then put some on along with a little oil and pull it back in a pony tail to air dry - it dries nice and smooth and soft. I really like it. I also use it on my daughters natural hair dry or wet and it does well...it's the only gel I've used that I like.

Thanks MzRhonda! I have mixed it with an oil, also! Does your bottle have Spanish under the English? And you are like me in that it is the only gel that I like!!

HybridAngel,

I just looked at my bottle, it has the NEW ingredients!
I wish I could've compared it w/ an old version but is there a significant difference for you? I hope not..
I'm not too keen on my chemistry, but some of the missing ingredients look like they were essential ..hmmmm... I'll go hunt down an "old" bottle. You've got me started!

Thanks for the info, Laela.

Well, I called and spoke with a chemist at Elasta. She said that I am right, there has been a change in the ingredients, and that I am very observant!

The reason for the change: The company took a new stance on the animal rights agenda. To avoid protesting and animal testing, Elasta took out the Hydrolyzed Collagen Protein.

She said that it still has the same results, and the change was a minor one.

So far, I have not noticed a difference at all. (Thank goodness!)

I LOVE being informed!! And I just wanted to inform my fellow board members as well!

Wooahh.. I'm still curious as to whether the old bottle is better, though. I'm a born skeptic. I'll keep you posted, but THANKS for the info from the company behind the ingredient change!
