What does this mean? I'm only 26 years old I thought this kind of thing only happens when you are older but maybe I'm wrong. Am I aging before my time? Is it my regimine? What if I get more of them and I start to look like the dog in my avatar? But for real, what could it be?

I've had them since I was 17. For me I get them when I go through a really stressful time. Through a rinse up in there and call it a day, lol. I dont know how to prevent them and so that is the best advice I can give. Sowwy.

I have had mine since the age of 17 also and they have not gone away. I have more than one and they don't go away. My Mom told me to stop plucking them or they will grow back in multiple strands, which I guess is true since I have more now. They are tucked in the back of my head and I have a lot of hair, so they are not readily noticeable.

My niece (Taylor) had a few strands of gray when she was 2 years old. I guess it doesn't have much to do with age.

I remember when my mom found her first gray hair. She keeps on plucking them out and they come back with a vengence. If she keeps on plucking, she is going to end up bald

un un me too gurl.... I'm 28 now. i was 27 when i found my first and only grey hair. i still have it but it's the only one. now that i think about it, it coulda been stress because at that time I was in a stressful job working 45hrs week plus at the same time I was pursuing my bachelors degree attending fulltime. so it was like STRESS CITY!!!

Girl that ain't even funny. I think I got my first gray hair about ten years ago and everyone would be like, "Girl please, you don't have any gray hair." Now they're asking me when I'm gonna get a rinse or color. I call them silver highlights dangit and they give me, uhm, character. I hope I don't look like the dog in your avator...:( I really do think a little gray hair is kinda cute.:look:

You know, I saw this woman with a full head of thick, bsl, healthy silvery gray hair. It was some of the most beautiful hair I've seen! It made a big impression on me.

It may just be stress or hereditary.
I got my first gray hair when I was 16, now I have about 5 of those suckas! It doesnt bother me too much because their hardly noticeable, mine are hereditary anyway. Some old folk say that its a sign of goodluck when you start to grey at an early age, but I think its just an old wives tale. :)

LOL @ the dog in avatar comment.

Gray hairs have nothing to do with age. Anyone can get them at any age. I know a guy who was gray since he was about 3 years old, his dad was also gray around that age. It could be genetics, stress, or the follicle just stops producing pigment. I'm sure there are other reasons.

Anyway, you could use a powder hair dye, Henna or try He Shou wu aka Shou wu or Fo Ti from the chinese herbal shops or Shen min. It restores natural hair color. I took it for a while and my natural color grew out after I had dyed it about 4 times (I used to have a thing about dyeing my hair). An added bonus is it makes your hair grow fast. :yep:

I was 19 when I found my first white hair, and it's hereditary for me. My mother was about the same age when she got grey hair.
Now I'm 34 and about 20-30% grey!!! Bi-monthly rinses are a must! :D
That gives me nice reddish highlights.

I agree it's hereditary. As far as I know both my parents got grey hair quite young.

I think I found my first at around 17 too!
I haven't seen any in the last few years though, so either they're hiding very well or they've gone for now!

On tlhs.org I found this:
"Vitamin C stimulates the hair growth and regulates the generation of pigments in the hair strand."

So I'm wondering if a lack of vitamin C might cause greying.....?

I've had them all of my life, and I am only 26. Mine aren't gray, they are white and they don't color. I can't wait until my entire head to turn white it is going to be so pretty.

I believe gray hair is hereditary. I have a gray patch in my hair that is in the exact same place as my fathers. I've had it since I was a toddler and have resisted coloring it. I've actually kinda' learned to embrace it. :)

OT....Cinnabuns is that your doggie in your avatar? Such a cutie. :)

i had my first one since i was 3. I think its hereditary. My dad's hair became grey when he was like 40....as in every single strand. and i have his hair.....

your not alone! I have so many greys:eek: ! I don't know if it's stress or heredity, what's worse is that they come in ringamarole(sp) patterns:eek:

What is ringamarole??

For some reason my gray hairs ...maybe 4 dont' ever seem to grow very long!!

ringamarole...like multicolor, like those orange and white cats. My greys are freaky:eek:  , the roots of my hair is white then halfway down it's black then white again:eek: and the very tips are black or white!

I'm 22 and just happened to find my first gray hair about 2 days ago. It's actually more white than gray and it's only an inch long. I called my mom and she said she got her first one at 27. Has anyone plucked one without more growing back in?

I had grey hairs but I got them suckers colored....I look old enough already! So you're not alone....:alcoholic

I found a grey hair right in the front last fall (I am 21 years old). I wasn't surprised, because school is very stressful, and last fall was in particular. I haven't seen it in a while, but I colored my hair in January...it'll show itself again this summer when my natural color grows out more (already an inch grown out so far).
