Edges Wearing Thin From Wig Use...Pleae Help

Hello Ladies,

I am natural and for three months had started wearing a wig because it was much easier to do so. As I am often sweating from my fitness training and running my gym it just seem much easier to throw on a wig for other events.
I braid 4 small cornrow along the edges and pull the rest of my hair back. Before I do this I make sure to moisturize hair. Now, I am noticing thining edges and a permanant ring from where the wig sits.
I have no problem wearing my hair natural now....I just wanted to know if there is a product that may aid in my edges growing back full. Perhaps surge?
Also what way can I protect my hair and edges when using a wig?
Thank you

Hey sterry other s_terry here. I suffered from the same thing. I used a wig cap and the same thing. Only thing I can say is don't wear it too tight. My edges are just now starting to fill back in and look like a invsible band on my head. Looks like the wigs have drawbacks too. Sorry

Good luck!

I wore a wig for about....8 months and had no ill effects. I didn't wear a traditional wig cap though, I wore my satin scarf underneath. Only wore the wig during the day, as soon as I came home it came off.

I did this this morning because I have an aunt with long but thin hair due to a receeding hair line from wigs. I also take mine off as soon as I get home. The wig that I got is really cute but I think it's designed to make you bald, it has a comb attachment IN THE FRONT and BACK.

How else does one go about keeping these things in place? They seem to want to 'ride' up during the day. :(

HI

I am also natural and have resorted to wearing a wig in the cooler months...I had no problems with my hairline. Here's what I did:

1.) I washed 2x a week(towards the end I got lazy, so about once every week and a half)
2.) Conrows (about 6)
3.) And I moisturized nightly with Infusium(ends of conrows)
4.) Oiled scalp nightly with MTG and WGO and sometimes Surge...

I would suggest that you use MTG on hairline at least three times a week if this is too much oil use for your taste. I got a lot of good healthy growth. I hope this helps!
Oh yeah, I used traditional cheapy wig cap, but if your hair line is sensitive I ould use a satin scarf.

VW, are you sure that wasnt a hairfall? That sounds like how a hair fall is designed. They usually come with the comb in the front and back, and you leave out a section of hair in the front to comb over.

I would recommend using mtg to grow the hairline back in. You should see a difference in a couple of months of consistent use.

Thanks ladies for your responses!

Kini, I've bought enough falls to probably start my own collection! Typically, that's what I wear but this is for sure a full wig, it has bangs (I've NEVER worn bangs before.

This is the Motown - Dundee. It's called a 'top wig'? Hmmm, looking at the directions on the page it says you can leave some of your hair out in the front but wouldn't that make the bangs kinda funky?

Ooooh, i see. Kewl. Yep, thats definitely a full wig.

And yeah, that would be kinda weird to try and leave out hair, since it already comes with bangs.
