Eczema on scalp?

Anyone ever had this? I went to the derm and he diagnosed me as having atopic dermatitis. That is why my relaxers were burning me. Anyone have any advice. He gave me this mineral oil and petroleum based ointment for it. It is called Protopic. I hope this works. But any advice ladies?

When my daughter had eczema on her scalp (I had NEVER heard of it until then either) the Dr told me to put hydrocortizone cream on it. It clear up after a couple of days. It wasnt even prescription strength.

I really don't have any advice but I know my cousin has the same exact problem. Because of this she had to stop getting relaxers all together cause she couldnt take the burning anymore. And she washes her hair every week, if she doesn't she said her scalp feels tight and it hurts. Its very hard for me to relate to what you guys are going through but this is what I know of it.

I had seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp, face and back. I think it is in the same family. I no longer have this problem. What helped was:

More frequent washing (2x per week) with a regular shampoo and conditioner (ORS Uplifting Shampoo is my favorite). I dislike presciption shampoos b/c they dry out my hair.

Taking a multivitamin w/ biotin. Mine is a supermultivitamin and has biotin included. (Most important IMO)

Using scalpacin, an over-the-counter topical alternative to prescription medication. I used this for a while also. (May cause irritation until the wounds/rashes heal) Once dry, apply a little hydrocortisone cream in affected areas.

Try not to use grease on the scalp. It will have adverse effects.

Hope This Helps . . .
