Eco-styler Gel for defined curls...Users get in here!

This stuff is dirt cheap and works so well! I bought a 5 lb (80 oz) tub for 8.99 at Super Beauty Depot when I went to Orlando. I bought that in January, gave my aunt some, and still haven't made it to the halfway mark yet. And I use it everyday!
I'm curious to try KCC, but the Eco-styler is working fine for me right now, so why waste money?

You have 3 tubs of Long Aid? Did you buy them all from my local Walgreens? The last two times I went they had nothing! Join the Jheri Juice challenge! It's crackin up in there.

I have 3 tubs of the Olive Oil Eco Gel. I also have tubs of Long Aid, it's my fave--I got those from Walmart for a little over $5.00 a tub.

So, I took the plunge and got the regilar 10 (hold of 10) .
I couldn't get the Olive Oil cuz my Sally's was sold out.

Talk about moisturizig curls that are elongated.
I have officially broke up with KCCC and MJ!!!! lol

I just purchased the pink one today because I didnt remember which one you all said to get.

I applied it on my (already dry hair) to see how it would work. White residue everywhere. It doesnt agree with one of my staple products, so now I have to wash my hair. I hope it does well tomorrow.

I hate experimenting on week nights.

Ok, So I retract my last statement! I LOVE this stuff! I have the Olive oil one.. I am in the Jheri Juice challenge and I was using wave noveau, so I think it disagreed with it, but now I am using the Hawaiian silky.. That combo is perfect for me. Never will I spend 30 for KCCC again!!!!!!

I re-washed last night, did an ACV rinse, applied a little Profectiv mega growth creamy oil leave-in, and THEN the pink eco-styler. I think I like it.

I have Eco Style Gel and never thought to use it to style a wash and go. Well, I've never done a wash and go. But you girls have me inspired. I have 4aish hair and I love my curls right after washing and always wondered how to get them defined - now I know. Just waiting to get my new FHI blowdryer with diffuser so that I'm not walking out with wet hair. Can't wait to try it!

:needpics:

I've always wanted to use that smilie!! but seriouly I love curls and I'm a visual person so I need pictures...please :yep:

So when's the best time to apply Ecostyler gel? I'm thinking when I go to college, I'd like to incorporate some serious wash n' go's, especially over the summer. Should I use on wet, damp, or dry hair?

I have been using ecostyler without a leave in conditioner bc I always get white flakes... could you name the best leave in to apply with the clear and the olive oil gel! TIA!!

I finally decided to give the Eco a try on my wash n go yesterday. I generally don't believe in putting gel on my WnG's, w/the exception of KCCC but I figured, what the hell. I cowashed w/Hairveda Moist 24/7 and rinsed then did another cowash w/Jasmine's Avocado & Silk (:lick:) and used some as a leave in. My hair was soaking wet and in 5 sections. After the A&S, I applied a dab of Long Aid gel (still don't see how this is moisturizing for those who say it is, it's always been like soft hold gel to me) and the Krystal Eco on top. Plopped for about 30 minutes and gently diffused. I still have shrinkage, but it's day two and my hair is fuller, but my curls are still well-defined w/no frizzies. It's not hard or stiff either AND it dried a helluva lot faster than it ever does w/KCCC. As far as shine...eh, not enough for me so I'll be adding a bit of broccoli seed oil before I leave the house. Sorry so long, just wanted to add my :twocents:

I love the clear ecostyler gel (I can't use any kind of brown gel they always cause acne break outs). I have tried several leave-ins but the best one I have used thus far without getting crunchy hair and white residue is Creme of Nature's Lemongrass and Rosemary Leave-In Creme Conditioner. Trust me when I say a little goes a long way underneath the ecostyler. Too much leave-in can leave your hair ultra soft which will combat the hold of the gel.

I tried this yesterday (my first wash and go/so I know I need practice) and it was a disaster. I used HS14N1 as my leave in and then eco styler on top. The first time I tried it I COMBED through which was a dumb idea because I combed the curls out.

The next time I basically crunched the products into my hair but it didn't really hold up throughout the day:-(

So you guys are srunching the eco gel in right not combing it through?

I comb mine through, but my hair curls right back up. Well, I apply it and smooth my hair with a shampoo brush.

Never seen the anti-itch one.

Just wanted to update that I'm just now about to wash my hair since my last wash n go on the 27th. My hair has held up very well and my curls are still nice, I just don't like going too long w/o washing.

Yes - I wasn't smoothing the product in correctly. I watched a couple of youtube videos and discovered that a- i didn't smooth the product in and b I didn't use enough. I had to abandon the style becuase I didn't have time to play around with it and have my hair jacked up for work so I rodded my hair but will try it again once I wash the rods out in about a week. Thanks!

I prefer to use the olive oil one for my wash and go and the clear one for smoothing my edges. My wash and go results are in my siggy. I applied Giovanni Direct Leave in followed by the gel. I finger part and just smooth/rake it through with my fingers. Once that's done, I re-wet my hair under the shower and shake it out. This separates and defines my curls without having to shingle. HTH.

Thanks for the steps!

I've only seen the clear one in Sally's - I'd love to try the Olive Oil one.

I need to go across to the Asian BSS and see what they have.

This is also what i do. I have since used my olive oil gel at first I didnt like it because it was different than the clear and I wasn't used to it. It seemed softer and still defined my curls I think it did a better job than the clear for a wash and go. I might still use the clear for smoothing and whenever I can get his bad boy in a pony.

I just used the clear one last night using afican export's method on youtube and i loooove the results.
I have a feeling it's going to be drying for most of the week though

What I do is I:
1. wash/dc or cowash
2. apply my leave in, some kinky curly knot today and some oil
3. part a small section (like 2-3inches long 1 inch thick)
4. spray it with water
5. put about a quarter sized amount on section and rake through with fingers, smoothing after each rake with the opposite hand
6. brush twice with denman
7. rake again twice, but this time I rake it very slow applying some tension to elongate the hair.
8.let go and shake.

It takes me exactly 25 mins to do my whole head. After I am done, I give it a fierce shake. HTH

Has anyone used the ant-itch version with tea tree oil?
Not me.

I hear good things about this Giovani.

How long does it take you to do your whole head?

I'm going to honest. I have no idea how to use Eco-Style right. Every time I have used it my hair gets as hard as Darth Vader's helmet. I know for sure I have Ford Tough 4b hair (and I'm loving it) and I even tried exactly as i saw this woman on you tube do it with type 4b hair and it didn't turn out how I had thought. It was laughable. It probably is because I'm not using it right but can someone break it down for me and tell me how to use it properly. I mean break it down like Rainman.

Thanks

On second note I did read a lot of really good methods. So I will go for round 10,000 soon.

Hmmmm....great thread. I'm an avid KCCC user and I haven't found anything that works nearly as well for me. I amazed at how many of you have dropped KCCC for this!!! I have the Ecostyler gel in the brown container and I hated it! Maybe I will take it back and try the clear or the olive oil. I have never worn a WNG, and I am wearing my hair back in a bun right now. I used the Ecostyler on my hair to slick it back into the bun, and after liken an hour, it was a fuzzy/wavy dry-looking mess! When I use KCCC, it is slick, shiny and lasts ALL day! I'll try the Olive oil gel before I cast final judgment, but it will be hard to convince me to switch!

I used Lacio Lacio under the olive oil version for a twist out and my hair was sooooo soft and shiny, curlies defined and not hard at all. So if you're looking for a good leave-in to put under it, try lacio lacio.
