Easy Rollersetting/Pincurl Challenge Part II
Starting: July 7, 2008
Ending: September 6, 2008
This is a continuation of for our rollersetting/pincurling practices.
The objective of this challenge is, hair maintenance, hair retention and to create professional finished styles with No Bumps, or Fuzzies, but SMOOTH & BOUNCY HAIR. (It is more difficult than you think)
This challenge is for anyone and is designed to allow everyone to work with other challenges.
In this challenge, we are going to focus on our technique:
- ROLLERSET/PINCURL 1X PER WEEK (Wet or Misted) Use the best method that is not going to cause your hair to break, shed, or dryout.
- WASH & DC 1X PER WK.
- CW at least 1X PER WEEK and follow your normal routine and challenges.
- Report to the forum at least once every 2 weeks and report a learning experience on your hairs behavior.
- Maintain your rollerset until your next co-wash. After your co-wash wear your hair in a protective style until your next rollerset/pincurl.
- You cannot use a comb AT ALL when you first remove your rollerset and are setting your style. Use your fingers. (Soft brush, optional (if you must).
- Try all options twice: Rollerset and Pincurl at least 2 times during this challenge. Example 1 if you prefer to rollerset than you must try pincurling at least twice. If you prefer to pincurl, than you must try a rollerset at least twice during this challenge. Example 2. Two Wet Sets and Two Misted Sets (Which one do you like best)
HOOD/BONNET, OR AIR DRY wet rollerset, pincurl
I have had success with air drying, but it’s not for everybody. It can also take a very very very long time to dry if you have thick hair IMO. Make sure you have enough time to allow your hair to dry.
Test different things to find out what your hair responds to. For example, try sitting under the dryer until your hair is mostly dry, then let it air dry the rest of the way.
(LOW MANIPULATION AND NO COMBING)
You have to finger comb you remove your rollers so be creative with your styles.
Example: Messy Updo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xZWg5l998o&feature=related, (This is who I look at many times for my hair training) I know that there are other ones so please share them.
Remember what works for you may work for someone else so post your findings.
Also, remember that what worked for somebody else may not work for you.
When in doubt do a patch test.
Want to try something new?
Find a discreet section on your head and try the technique, before you do on your entire head.
You can use a soft or boar bristle brush sparingly and if you are wrapping your head to flatten the style new growth, or wrapping to go to bed. All other times you can finger comb. At other times, you can use a very very soft brush like a (baby brush) to lay down them flyaways, and to keep it looking neat. If you do not have a boar bristle brush, try one they are wonderful for smoothing and wrapping hair b4 bed.
Again, on this challenge (NO BLOWFRYERS, NO FLAT IRONING), but if you must you cannot use a comb, or a brush. Separate your hair with your fingers and use on your roots ONLY w/the attachment to focus on that area only.
Post a starting picture.
Taking pictures and posting is optional during this challenge, but I hope that you can find the time to share at least one. At the END of this challenge, I want you to post your worse and best rollerset for the 3-months.
