I recently turned 23 and I've notice that I have a boatload of gray hairs, in the front of my head :nono:. I'm entirely too young to have gray hair and they're at least 10 super coarse strands. Is there any non-damaging, gentle method of covering them up. I've always wanted to try henna and now it looks as though I may have to :ohwell:

I have tried henna and indigo which is great IF you don't mind going darker with your hair color.

However, now I use Aveda (go to the salon for it). It's very gentle and with a little extra TLC you can wear whatever color you want.

Any way you color your hair requires some additional care (by way of gentler 'poos, and extra DCs) so be aware of that. I haven't had any problems with it as long as I stick to my routine.

I started getting gray at 16.:ohwell: I color to cover the gray. I have found that semi color is less damaging to my hair. It can vary from person to person, so you have to listen to your hair. As a natural head, my color lasts longer. When I was relaxed, I always used shampoo. I did not know you could use sulfate free shampoo or a lot of the practices I use now to make my hair healthy.

Clairol Natural Instincts semi permanent in Jet Black every 8 to 10 weeks. I use it this frequently because I wash my hair twice a week.

Henna is great. My hair is a dark brown with red tones and the greys are orange highlights
I do it about once a month

I'm trying to decide what to do about my grays. I've always heard you shouldn't henna after using a permanent color. The last time I used a permanent color was in late 2009 though. I don't want something that's going to fade quickly.

I have exactly 2 strands of gray hair and I always pull them out. They are some tough little buggers. Since it's only 2 strands no one can even see them.

I hear nettle tea works for gray hair but since I don't have enough to experiment with, I am always on the lookout for people who can confirm this.

I use semi permanent color. I either get it done by my stylist at the same time I get my relaxer, or I do it at home with Adore Plus or the Clairol Beautiful line.

i dont lol but i use cassia and it turned them yellow! which i dont really care. if you henna they will turn a bright red, just letting you know now. but if you want black hair all over you can use indigo after the henna.

Thanks guys...my hair is a dark reddish brown anyway, so I think I may purchase some henna. But I have no clue how to properly use henna. I may have to do a search. I really want to stick to a natural solution.
