Dying grey hair naturally & hair regime?

I just started using tea to dye my grey hair along my hairline and it works though it takes several applications over 2 days to really deepen the color (hair is natural). I stopped using semi permanent and permanent dyes as well as Bigen because unlike others' experiences they all caused my hair to break (please note: this is only my experience). My quandry is I need to DC and shampoo every other week, which effectively erases all my anti-greying handiwork. As I see it I can: 1) remain grey (I've been greying since 17yrs old) or 2)redye every wk. Ladies, are there natural options I've overlooked? All feedback is appreciated. Thank you, Ladies!

i'm just like you, my hair has been gradually graying since my teens as well. like you i've tried dyes and i like the color results but they were not healthy for my hiar (disclaimer: my hair LOL). i won't do tea or coffee rinses b/c they are too much work (for me). i'm natural and my regimen is simple: co wash, leave in, one of my many different moisturizers depending on how i feel that day or the weather and coconut oil (unless i use my qhemet then no oil). no time for rinses. i was going to try another commercial rinse but it is just sitting on my counter cause i want a natural alternative. for me ALL natural alternatives will take time that i do not want to spend. if you want to invest the time try henna or indigo or henna+indigo. here are some links:

Co-signing on the henna. This is what I do to cover my gray... I also started greying early, it's a family trait. I love my henna. It turns grey into auburn highlights... :gorgeous:

I feel you I have been greying since I was a teen too. I just permanetly color my hair every few months and I use a rinse to get me through to the next permanent color. Grey hair is a Its a b*&*^!

Henna is a great natural colourant, I've had grey hair since my teens too now I have just learnt to live with and embrace my grey hair.

I'm having the same coloring gray hair issues...permanent color + my relaxer = :catfight: and rines eventually :ghost: leaving my hair looking pale. I recently ordered some henna and indigo and plan on going black again. I hope it will make my hair have a lot more lusture and shine colorwise and be conditioning at the same time...this way when the grays creep up I can henna/indigo without worry. I'll keep you posted!!!

Thank you for your replies, Ladies. I know very little about henna so thank you for making the suggestion perfectlyimperfect and supplying links, and joyousnerd, bermudabeauty, temfash, lilshama86, and ckn for seconding the motion. Temfash, I've tried to live with the grey but it just makes me look tired--like I need some rest. I wish it made me look distinguished, but no.:nono: Ckn, I wish my hair could take all that I'd like to do to it--relax, nice highlights, but it's so hot where I live that I have to baby it if I ever want to keep my new growth (100+ in the summer). I'll live vicariously through you! Joyous nerd, if grey turns to highlights with henna, I should have a light show when I dye mine. If anyone has any before/after photos to post of your natural hair color and your hair colored with henna (and the color you used), I would be ever so grateful. Many thanks!
