The box says to do it on clean dry hair, but it says to wash the day before you dye...do I have to or can I do it on the same day? I know hairdressers do it on the same day. I think they advise to do it the next day because most customers are relaxed and their cuticle is more open and washing would open it even more...am I right can I do it today or should I wash and do it tomorrow?

You haven't said if it is permanent or semi. I usually relax my hair and dye it with Adore semi on the same day but I don't know about permanent. If the dye must be applied to dry hair then I suggest you do it a day after you have washed it like it says on the box, but ultimately, perhaps you should consult a stylist to avoid any unnesscary pain.

It is a permanent color by Textures and Tones. I might call the helpline on the box

DO NOT APPLY IT TO DIRTY HAIR!!!!!
I did this once and I got this horrible THICK white residue all over my hair when I tried to wash the color out. I called the number on the box, and they told me to rinse my hair with mouth wash, and it happened because my hair was dirty??

I used Clairol Textures & Tones Permanent Hair Color on February 7, 2004 (my relaxer touch-up was on January 14, 2004). I shampooed my hair and applied the color afterwards on damp hair. I used a dark color (same as my natural hair color). Do you think it has something to do with you using a much lighter color? You may want to ask Tracy since she's the hair color guru.
