on saturday, i thought my ends were looking a little frayed so i decided to "dust" but it turned into more of a search and destroy. i only cut a little bit but my hair looks uneven to me now so i'll have to even it up. i should've just left it alone because i have layers that are growing out uneven...as layers tend to do:perplexed. all i really needed was to clarify and deep condition, which i did yesterday. i am kicking myself. next time, i'll definately deep condition before taking any drastic measures. i should've known it was probably a fluke because i moisturize my ends every night.

just needed to vent:ohwell:

sometimes we have to either ask others to help us with our hair maintance or go to the shop and get things done. Personally when my hair was that long, and it was in layers....I could never cut my hair right. Sorry that happened to you

This is precisely why I don't do search and destroy. I just dust all the strands taking off the same small amount. That way my hair stays relatively the same length or the way it was if I had layers. Plus I always feel like I might miss sth if I'm only trimming what I find.

oh, i definitely won't ever attempt anything like this again. i'll let my stylist do it. she listens or else i'll have my mom do it. lhcf had me feeling myself so i went ahead and did it ..lol.

I my hair is uneven too mostly b/c on side grows faster. Just wear it up and it will grow back b4 u know it! HHG!

I never understood search and destroy for that very reason. If i'm gonna trim or (dust) I will go straight across and thats it. Maybe if I had thicker hair, search and destroy wouldn't be a bad thing but for my fine hair, I will end up uneven.

i know, i was doing a search on the board - read about search and destroy and got to excited. my hair is a medium texture - closer to fine - and just wasn't a good idea. i plan to wear it up for awhile or curly, let it grow back and then cut.

Do you wear your hair up most of the time? I do the search and destroy method and it doesn't matter if my hair is uneven because it's up in a bun most of the time (no one knows that it's uneven except for me). Even without search and destroy, my hair grows at different rates. I eventually trim to even it out, but only when I reach the length that I'm trying to achieve. I think it's actually helped me to retain most of my length.
