Dusting After Washing

Hi, do you any of you ladies dust after most washings. I notice when i use to do this, my hair would grow faster, and i would not have to get any trims, not even a 1/4 of an inch. I would have to do this since my natural hair while curly is fine and thin, but tightly curled. My ends split easily, so after i shower i would just cut off a little split or snag here or there. It worked well for me, my hair went from shoulder length in july to almost midback in nov . It's funny i thought of this idea before i even joined LCHF. I figured it would save me from horrifying trims that were really cuts. My hair is thinner now, because i just began dusting after not doing it for a few months. Now i am getting back on track. Does this method work for any of you ladies. Thanks, sorry if the post is too long.

that's exactly what my fear is when dusting. your hair will appear thinner. i rather wash and condition my hair at the house, then blowdry it straight and then go to my hairdresser and get a trim. she said it's best to do on dry hair (for straight hair) cause then you can see the split ends or dry ends better than if my hair was wet. it's cheaper like that too

. i only pay $10.

Hi Steph!
My hair is relaxed. I keep my hair in about 8 braids all the time. About twice per month I dust my braids. After I have washed, deep conditioned, and braided my hair I saturate each braid with a combination of oil and leave-in conditioner and dust each braid. I have no problem with the thickness and my hair dresser has not trimmed or cut my hair in 3 years. My hair has gone from barely nape length to 4" below my shoulders. As I say, every method/product is not for everyone. Grow with what works for you.

Fletgee, i know all about thin fine hair unfortunaly that is my hair naturally, unless i blow dry. Then it is a long thick mess, lol, but anyway everyone has different methods, but my hair is not thinner because of the dusting. it actually kept my hair thick and healthy. My hair is only thinner because i did not know how to take care of it properly. i.e. did not rinse after exercise, and i use to exercise six times a week. i did not use hot oil treatments or conditions washes. Now that i have learn so much information from this great board. My hair has not broken off like it use to. I just did a dusting today, and my hair instantly had more curl formation and was thicker. I won't be dusting for awhile because i want to keep my new hair length!
