hey ladies, I just thought i'd reach out and ask yall instead of continuing to wonder. I'm wondering why they are so expensive. and also why aren't they just called 'wigs'? whats so different about them that they are not just a plain ole' $40 wig?

:grin::grin::grin:

They are "alla dat" :) b/c the front of the wig has a lace strip on it that allows u to glue/tape it to your forehead. At which point (b/c of the lace) it looks like it is growing out of u own head/scalp. With regular wigs they always look like wigs b/c u can see that the hairline is not authentic or you have to get one w/bangs. Lace fronts allow you to have u hairline exposed and it still looks real. I have pictures is my fotki...

I still don't get it either. I think I may have to see it to understand. So people don't see that you have lace glued to your forehead? Or is it just a tiny tiny strip?

So what happens when you sweat, does the glue get all "nasty"???
How do you part it? Is some of your hair out?
It looks really nice on you!!
I might have to save up some cash for this right here!!!!

The glue will hold thru sweat. But it does cause it to weaken sooner. So if you normally would get a week out of it once u start working out you will probably only get 3-4 days.

You part it w/a comb just like regular hair :D None of my hair is out in the pics. I is all braided up in 8 braids going front to back. Actually 9 b/c I have one horizontal braid in the very back b/c the wig fits better like that.

A yes that is what Tyra Banks and Beyonce, and Ashanti, etc... are wearing.

OHHHHHHHHHHHH! Now i understand!!! All this time, I thought ashanti and them were wearing weaves.... See if i would have seen you, i would have thought you had a weave and that the front was your real hair blended into it. But looking closer at it, it looks like your real hair...there are no telltale signs of a wig or weave.... And Carmen, it doesn't make your hair/head look bulky at all, like a wig would.
Yes it looks very real and VERY VERY EXTREMELY CUTE. Now i wish i wouldn't have asked this question cause now i want one. :ohwell: I am definitely going to look for a style and get one.

I am so not up on all of this new stuff.

okay 2 more questions... I used to wear wigs and I hated how it'd make my head feel really suffocated, like my scalp couldn't breathe, is it the same with the lacefront? Or is it more airy and allow your head to breathe? Also, Any websites that you can suggest for me to look and purchase one?

Girl, carmen your hair is BANGIN. i love it soo much.

Please be patient Im a little slow here...

So that's your scalp showing in the pics? Does the wig cover your whole head? If so how is your scalp showing? How can you part it anywhere?
What do you put the glue on and what exactly are you glueing to your forehead?

Im even more confused now but I sure want one. Yours looks really cute.

What's the price range for these things??? I may have to purchase one!!!!
Also, do you need to go to a salon for this or is it like the 3/4 wigs that you can remove every night?

Sorry took so long to respond but I have been working on braiding my hair. Im doing individual lace braids for the summer. I love the wig but I have worn it everyday for the last 12 weeks and I need to let me scalp breath :D

In the pics none of my scalp is showing. All u see is wig. Including the scalp. You can part it anywhere b/c the wig is made of material that looks like scalp across the top. You put glue on ur forehead and then put the lace on top of the glue. Once the glue drys... the glue/lace/forehead become one :D Thats why it looks so natural. It takes some practice to get it exactly right.

The wig is much lighter than regular wigs. But IMO it would be too hot for the summer but others dont think so. This is a personal choice. There are a couple of websites. I got mine from His and Hers. Some have ordered from a BHM board member. Hers are very nice b/c she custom colors and hooks them up for you. These wigs are expensive so you REALLY have to do your homework b4 buying and try and know what u want. I would suggest any 1st time buyer to buy a stock wig (not custom) and then figure out what u are doing then order a custom if you want. This site has good info to help explain how these wigs work... http://www.coolpiece.com/frequently_asked_questions.htm
Be careful because there are some people out there selling these wigs who are not trustworthy. Do searches and ask questions.

Angel... yours still looks very good even w/nothing on underneath. I will have to get Steph a try one day :D I can normally do my own "twerking" but it would be nice to not have to worry and let someone else do it. Plus my color skills aint got nothin on hers....

Thanks Carmend for the sites & more details!
