DSD(and all others!)...Hair Trimming (Roll Method?

Hi, Ladies! I noticed DSD's method of hair trimming and was wondering if she or anyone else has had good results trimming her hair this way? I ask because my daughter has some damage and every stylist that I've taken her to has "trimmed" her ends and it doesn't seem to be doing much for her hair. One lady who I thought was the BOMB stylist, chopped off my baby's hair, saying that it should grow pretty evenly and long, but her hair is still at about the nape of her neck and that was over a year ago!
Now, I clip my own ends and have had good results but then again, that's MY hair. I've always tried professional care when it comes to my daughters but I'm sorely discouraged by the experience.
Holla at me, about the Roll Method. I'll be waiting on pins and needles.
