Help!
My curls are gone, but my roots are still straight

I am too scared to wash my hair, being that I am 5 wks post relaxer

(I also spent $41 on this blowout

Only option is to use some type of cream to roller set my hair while it is dry.
Can someone please share some tricks for roller setting dry hair

Do you have the Caruso roller system? That is one way to quickly curl your dry hair and keep it moisturized too.

I spray the ends with plain water until damp, not wet, and then rollerset and airdry. If I must speed up drying, I sit under hooded dryer on cool setting. I try NEVER to use heat of any kind on dry hair.

When my hair is dry and I want some curls or curves to my hair, I put oils on my ends and put about 15 magnetic rollers in my hair (not very tight at all). I just wrap my head with a satin scarf. After taking them out, finger-comb through your hair to way you would like it and it turns out great! :-)

Thanks Ladies,
No I do not have Caruso system

I should invest in one

So it seems like the trick is to dampen the ends

Hey Denali

The same thing happened to me when I had the wipeout done. Comb through your hair with a lite oil and or serum and finger part your hair into big sections to apply rollers (I used sponge rollers with wrapping paper). Use big sections if you want full loose curls. If you want tighter curls section your hair into smaller parts for the rollers.

I wouldn't use a creamy leave-in on a dry roller set because they tend leave roller marks on your hair and the hair is weighed down more...not something you want for a flowing dominican blowout.

Hope this helps; keep me posted.

I would not dampen the ends, this would give your hair two different textures once it's dry.

I would suggest you leave the Caruso alone unless you have time to "do" your hair if you mess up. I tried it once on dry hair and I had a frizzy bush. I would suggest locating the satin covered rollers. Put some oil or serum on your hair pull it into a loose ponytail and place 6-8 of the medium and large rollers in your hair. I always do this before I go out and it turns out great!

The Caruso or Vidal Sassoon steam curlers are great. The only way you will get frizz is if you over fill the steamer and let water, not steam saturate the roller; or if you steam each curler too long. If the roller is wet when you take it off the steamer, you left it on too long.

u could also put a few 'invisible' rollers in ur hair by rolling sections of your hair around ur fingers (as if a roller was being used) and pin (as you would a roller but instead of using a duckclip u use a long bobbypin) same so that it stays in place. Depending on how much curl u want (alot, use smaller sections; a little bounce at the bottom, use larger sections) and sleep with a satin bonnet on ur head. You could also spray ur invisible set with a lite hold hair spray (not alot) and u'll b good to go the next morning. it's cheap and it works.

if you want a more defined curl, you can do the above but instead of pinning it like a roller, you would lay it flat against ur head by turning the rolled hair to the side so that u see an 'O' and then pin same to ur head. Follow the same advice above and viola.

Hmmmm. I have 4b relaxed and whenever my ends go wild, like humidity strikes or I sweat alot (Atlanta in summer ain't no picnic for relaxed dos!) I spray plain water on the frizzy ends to dampen just a little and then rollerset on maganetic rollers and airdry, the ends come out nice and straight and the entire do is back to being bouncy, without the frizz. I don't notice different textures, but then again, I probably have quite a few different textures just naturally. My method is a quick fix to control frizzy ends without haiving to re-wash hair.

Also, check out kitchen_tician's album...she used satin rollers to achieve a lovely rollerset.

Yeah I was looking at your lovely album CH and I noticed you used pin curls to get a great look....but I can never get the roots to not be puffy....I can't get the rolled hair close enuf to my scalp.
