My last relaxer was with Affirm Fibergaurd....could this be the culprit. Before the Affirm I was using Design essential (with another stylist), but due to bad hair care my hair was in bad shape anyway. Now it's in better shape, but it's dry. I don't use as much heat as I use to, but still dry hair. Should I switch relaxers or Just use affirm one more time to see if I get better results? I started taking better care if my hair after I got this relaxer, so maybe I'll have better results. If I switch relaxers I'll be switching to Phyto.

I don't know anything about that relaxer, but could it be something else? maybe your hair needs more moisture. Maybe your need a better conditioner, leave in and daily moisturizer? Maybe you need to moisturize more often--every night?

I don't use Affirm but whenever I relax I spend the first few weeks combating dryness. Try using Olive Oil or Elasta QP mango butter to restore the moisture your strands have lost. If this is the first time you've had really dry hair following a relaxer I doubt it was the culprit.

I have the same problem. My stylist also uses Affirm on my hair. I like the results but my hair and scalp get very dry. I had constant itching. The creme moisturizer from Cathy Howse's ubhpublications.com and the products from My Honey Child have helped a lot. It has been 10 days and I can tell a difference already.

My hair is dry like the sahara desert....I don't even know what moisturized hair feels like. My hair is either wet from products or dry dry dry....if that makes sense. I think that is why these frequent washings have been helping me so much esp now that I am 8 weeks post relaxer.
