drug store relaxers vs. BSS relaxers

are the relaxers that you find in beauty supply stores better then the ones you can get at the drug store? I am thinking about self-relaxing and trying to decide which relaxer i would want to use. /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Don't they sell the same brands?!? I thought they all had Optimum, Dark and Lovely, Soft and Beautiful, African Pride, Pink Oil Moisturizer, Fabulaxer...etc...

Those relaxers don't last long in my hair...so I relaxed like once a month (for real!!!!!) and my hair got really damaged. (I didn't know any better at the time) I no longer self-relax or use BSS or Drug store relaxer kits.

Oh yea, I'm thinking about ordering a kit or the individual supplies from Sheldeez.com for Affirm or Straight Request. IMO, Straight Request is a great relaxer and will last a long time and is less harsh on the hair.

Looking at your album, it looks like you get your hair professionally done. It looks that great. Do you do your own relaxers and coloring?

It depends, are you speaking of Lye or No Lye?

The drug stores usually only sell boxed NO LYE relaxers. The BSS sells a variety; boxed NO LYE kits, professional formula no lye relaxers, Professional Lye perms, etc... I think it depends on your preference.

I use Lye perms, so I wouldn't be able to buy a perm from a drug store, because they don't sell LYE. The BSS has more of a variety and sometimes better quality products, like(Mizani, Designers Touch, Design, Dudleys, Affirm, etc.) Of course it depends where you live and what your BSS sells.
