Dread Question

Has anybody started dreads with relaxed hair? I am aware that you can get sisterlocks with relaxed hair but I'm talking about the "regular" sized dreads/locs . I ask because I have seen people with naturally straight hair get dreads. I actually started some dreads on a friend of mine with naturally straight hair. I was just curious to see if anyone has done that or know of someone who did it. And what did it look like?

I have seen fotki's with people who have started traditional dreads with relaxed ends, but not a fully relaxed head.
You could probably do it but I don't think it would look good. Once that natural hair texture comes in, you'd be able to see the difference and may be a weak point. I think that those with sistalocs that start them with relaxed hair end up cutting them off at some point but I don't know for sure.
You would probably back comb them to start them off.
