Dread Extensions

GodsPromises

The Credit Countess
I was thinking about getting some dread extension as it is time for me to braid up my hair again.

I wanted to do the ones where you box braid your hair and then wrap hair around the braids. Has anyone done that yourself and are there any video that I could go to, to get an idea.

I was thinking of doing it myself so as not to have to pay so much money. I have a Friday and Saturday free to work on this.

Silky dreads. Nope, never done them, but have seen them. I heard it can be a lot of tension with the braiding, and then the tight wrapping

they are so hot, but I won't know how to properly/ moisturize my hair, I mean how water will access to my hair by all these layers of synthetic hair!
and now that i'm not experimentating breakage by moisturizing and sealing my hair every single day....it's such a long time I want to do loc extensions but I don't do them due to this issue !

yeah so they're super easy to put in, i tried them

to take out? not so much. It took me 5 mins to put in 3 just as a test and a good 3 hours to take them out without cutting my own hair. I feel like im missing a step here

Did anyone who had Loc extensions feel any dryness after taking them down as I don't know how it's possible to adequately moisturize your hair when it's wrapped up in the faux locs. I still want them though.

Fhrizzball Actually, the natural hair underneath is extremely moisturized and uber soft when its taken down.....ok imma save the rest of the deets for my update thread:giggle:

I want to get these but I'm sooooo deathly afraid of the takedown part. I don't want any setbacks. I'm thinking that the hair that is used for the wrapping with tangle with my hair.

BlackMasterPiece waiting bad for your informations in your thread !

BMP does these w/human hair too (I think). That way your hair can get more moisturized as well. I enjoy that site.

BlackMasterPiece update update!!! i'm now rabidly excited about something i didn't even know was coming. but i need it. what's the update missy?? enquiring minds are waiting impatiently!!

Nonie thanks for calling BMP in. i meant to do it myself but i honestly wasn't sure if i had her name right and i was too lazy to check (teehee)

How did you put them in?

Box Braided a bit way down then wrapped the rest of the way, like how I saw in a YT tutorial. They came out nice and stayed without glue or anything but when it came to take it out, the fake hair got tangled in with my real hair and it was a nightmare  I must've done something wrong

Rei, I was just looking at a video also, looked fairly easy, one quick question what kind of hair did you use?

Rei i wouldn't feel too bad about it. BMP did mention on her blog that the tutes available on YT were lacking and she had to come up w/ her own method.

hopefully whatever 'surprise update' she has in store will provide some elaboration on her method...
