Dp you use a heat protectant when sitting under a hooded dryer?

I was wondering the same thing.

I may start just as preventive measure to prevent split ends just in case. Heat is heat eventhough it is indirect heat.

I am curious to hear other responses.

I do not and I never had heat protectant used on me when going under the dryer in the salon. My hair has no problem with the dryer heat.

Because I like to use Elasta QP Silk which is a heat protectant also, yes I do only because I love to use the product all the time.

I do use a serum but only because I plan to flat iron afterwards. I don't think a heat protectant is necessary but it may be beneficial to keep the dryer on medium or low heat.

Probably so. I tend to dry on low heat.:)

Yes. I use Proclaim Glossing Polish for Color and Heat Protection. It's my all-purpose serum. I rollerset exclusively, and I use this serum whether I'm airdrying or sitting under the dryer, which I rarely do.

Well I keep my dryer on HIGH.:look:

So when I rollerset, I use a little bit of serum, and once the rollers are in I spray my head with Nexxus Heat Protexx. I doesn't hurt to do it. I say go for it.

Yes. I use Fantasia IC Heat Protectant Straightening serum.

does this give a lot of shine. i want to try it.

to the OP, i dont use a heat preotectant when i sit underneath the dryer. i thought indirect heat was ok, cuz i use it weekly for my deep conditioning.

Yes. I even use heat protectant if I'm going to be out in the sun too long. You can never be too careful. :look:

I don't. But this question has got me thinking that I need to start.

I noticed a few months ago that the hair that gets closest to the top of the dryer splits faster and is drier than the rest of my hair so I try to only use the dryer on medium or below. Now I think I'll add some heat protectant too just to be safe.

Using heat for deep condish is fine but I'm referring to rollersets and other styles.

I've noticed the hair at the top tends to get drier than the rest of my hair also, even with a heat protectant. So, like you, I try to stay away from high dryer heat.

I don't use a serum-type protectant, but I do use the Elucence foam for setting and wrapping. It makes my roller sets very soft and shiny. Otherwise, I also have my leave-in (GD), Surge, and coconut oil in the my hair.

By the way, Alexstin, girl your hair is growing something fierce over there! Loving your new avatar!!!!;)

Thanks, Lavendar! That's actually from February but I just got bored with my old avatar.

I have started using a couple of dabs of chi silk infusion after I apply all of my leave-ins. I think it has made a difference. I retain more moisture and I get a softer shiny rollerset

I always use a heat protectant. It's so hot here in the summer...so alot of times I spray on some heat protectant before I leave the house:grin: I love the Beyond Zone "turn up the heat" heat protectant.

I usually don't, I apply my leave-in and seal with oil. I dry on medium heat for maybe 30 minutes. After that, I airdry the rest of the way.

I just tried using some of the Fantasia IC Heat Protectant Straightening serum after tonight's wash. I applied some after my leave-in, made a loose ponytail, put a big roller on the ends, and tied the front down with a scarf (this is my normal drying routine). Sat under the dryer until about 75% dry, and cross-wrapped. I swear, my new growth came out smoother and flatter than it normally does - I may have to do this more often when I'm late in my stretch. I don't really like using a cone-based serum, though. I may have to experiment with a wrapping/setting lotion instead.
