Hey ladies I want to do a doughnut bun next week and I was wondering what do you stuff the bun with. I have heard of people using dark colored socks....what do you ladies use?

I have a how to in my fotki using a sock. I figure why waste money when you can use stuff around the house. :) Its open if you wanna look. Its in the all about hair section in the how to folder.

thanks beyondcute. That was a great step by step but I'm wondering how that can be done on natural hair. would it have to be blow dried out first or what? If that is in another thread let me know ok. thanks

I use the doughnut form ($1.99 at Sally's) and cover it with a satin wrap ($2.49 at Sally's). It keeps the form from sucking the moisture outta my hair.

Beyondcute, I tried it with the sock after I saw your album...unfortunately, it dIdn't work too well for my ends at all. OT: Those braids are BANGING!!!

Oh yeah I forgot about the ends... My hair will take almost any type of abuse ot anything I throw at it but yours may need to be protected. Maybe you can put that satin cover over the sock or something like VWVIXEN said.

Im transitioing and when I did it on my head I just used moisturizer and a lil FOTE gel to smooth it back and then I sock bunned it. Freedom if you want it to be extra smoothe then yeah. Maybe flat iron it first.

Ive also done this with old braid out hair and had a texured bun. It came out pretty well (got lots of compliments)

OT: Thanks VWVIXEN! :) Just another set of C&G braids.

When I make a doughnut bun, I use 2 soft ponytail holders. I use the first one and make it into a ponytail. I then take my ponytail and separate it into two sections down the middle. I fold both sections over and wrap on my second ponytail. Easy!
