Don\'t visit Mexico if you don\'t want frizz....
I just returned from a girlfriend's wedding there over the weekend and she warned me before coming over 'your hair will frizz here, be careful' Ba humbug I said, trotting over to my faithful Dominican salon the night before flying for a rollarset and wrap, knowing how straight they make my hair which has stood through misty NY days and nightclub dancing and sweat.
I travelled with my hair wrapped, further 'protecting' my precious straight hair. Checked into the hotel and my room and I took off my scarf. Hair looked great
. So while walking around my room unpacking etc I noticed that out of the corners of my eyes I was starting to see my hair by the side of my face
I contined doing what I was doing but noticed I could see it more and more. I thought 'no' and walked to the mirror. My bangs switched in minutes from sleek to a thatched roof
I couldn't believe it!
She was right
My bangs were soooo frizzed and the rest of my hair was frizzing faster and faster. So much for the faith in the Dominican rollarset
For the 2 days before the wedding, each morning after unwrapping my hair, it would be semi straight but within 1 hour it poofed up again
Even more annoying was my g/f's hair was more or less fine!
She said the trick she found was to put hairspray on each section before she blew out the hair or used her curling iron.
The moring of the wedding, in desperation, I went to the hotel's hair salon which was really nice and they only used Kerastase! Giant pump disenspers of their shampoos and conditioners. I asked for a rollarset but the rollars were too small so they blew out the hair which looked great but when I returned to my room. Yes you guessed it, within 2 hours: My bangs were like this again
I gave up and resigned myself to the fact that I was going to look like a 12 year old for the wedding
And the moral here? Don't go to Mexico with straight hair because it ain't happening.
