lol @ "natural hair is easier" and lmao @ this thread. OP this isn't nappturality, you should know better than to make such statements the way you did on here

But i know what you mean-- my natural hair is easier for me too. My styles consist mostly of wash n go's, meanwhile flat-ironing takes an hour and only lasts 2 days before my hair looks greasy and desperate for a wash. Even though it requires more work, every now and then straight is worth the hassle *for me* anyway. :ohwell: straight hair isn't for everyone.

I love my natural hair but - I'm quite sure that when I reach SL I will have no problems wanting to flat iron my hair and I'm gonna swing it from right to left like nobody's business!

Wow I had no idea that people can be so sensitive over the relaxed/natural thing. As a person that has been on both sides (natural for most of my life tho), I'm going to have to agree that natural hair is easier for me as well. But then again, I didn't have LHCF back then so maybe it would have been easier with the virtually unlimited amounts of info on here. I guess OP might have gotten the tone on the site that relaxed hair is easier. *shrugs* I'm just still in shock at how easily people can get offended.

i was about to say the same.....i didnt find her post offensive....she was just sharing....aint like she said str8 haired folks are trash :look:

After spending the last 9 months heat free, I decided to straighten for many reasons. 1. That 1 yr anniversary in june doesn't work well for straight hair. 2. I thought it would be nice to have a professional cut my hair rather than me (needless to say I didn't get a trim).

Anyways, while most people enjoy their hair, swinging it and playing with it. I actually hated it. I was deeply disturbed with how much attention I had to give it. Constantly and currently keeping it up. Granted it survived this weekend's Nor'easter but I am in no means in a rush to straighten again. I felt like this was too much work.
Sorry relaxed & straight haired people, natural hair is EASIER.

....for you.

so am I! i thought the op was just ranting about HER natural hair being easier to manage. let me go back and re-read the op.

Wow... sorry you had that experience. I just became a straight haired natural last Wednesday and so far I am looooving it! It didn't take much to straighten at all and the upkeep is easy too. At least for me it is. :yep:

If you had just left out that last sentence in bold I would have been with you 100%. It's just so annoying when anyone makes statements like that because it comes off as condescending and always seems to instigate negativity.

I think maybe that sentence was taken out of context. So let me rephrase. I personally can no longer deal with MY hair straight. I find it to be too much work for me. I see on this forum as well as others women say they believe straight hair is easier. That is your opinion and could very well be easier for you. Great. But for me it isn't. I think should have labeled the thread "I don't believe the hype." - so please don't be offended.
Yes this was me venting about my recent experience. Also I think part of the reason I'm so anti-straight hair for myself is that I just cut off 10 inches of natural hair from heat damage. While I do thank the ladies from this site as well as other for the breadth of knowledge, that was MY experience. I'm so not shoving my ideals down anyone's throat, because I just flat-ironed someone else's hair.

Additionally, I don't see how pictures have anything to do with my experience with straight hair. If I had said my hair grew 10 inches in 10 months yes I need pictures, but this had nothing to do with the appearance of my hair in that sense.

P.S. I'm not a member of nappturally, so I can't relate. By no means am I hair nazi, you do what you do with your own hair

Yes, she was talking about HER hair in the beginning. THEN she made a generalization. If she said that it was easy for her to manage her natural hair, then I wouldn't care, I'll go fly a kite. That obviously wasn't the case.

Yeah I guess I wasn't clear in that last sentence. Maybe I should have said it's easier for ME. But I didn't think people would be offended about me speaking about my own experience. I thought we were beyond than that (I'm not referencing you directly Ms. Feliz)

I ain't gonna lie. I don't have hair down my back. I'm sitting a shoulder length. But I LOVE SWINGING MY SILKY SMOOTH STRAIGHT HAIR. I love it. A lot. No one will be able to stand me if my hair gets any longer. :) Or at least they won't be able to stand BY me without getting silky black strands across the face from my swanging.

I found nothing wrong with your post,I just saw it as you sharing your experience.I had a similar experience when I let the Dominican salon S8tn my hair...all of a sudden I was worried about exercise sweating it out and I just said I'll get a sew in when I want straight hair.I'm NEVER offended by anything on here because I am comfortable with me and my hair.Someone could have a thread called STRAIGHT HAIR IS EASIER!!!!...I will read it to see their points, maybe learn from their experience, and keep it moving.

Well at least you know what works for you.

OP, i didn't mention nappturality to imply that you're a natural nazi. I just meant that on this site if you're making a statement about natural hair you have to preface it with *for me* or *IMO* otherwise people get offended, think you're shoving your views down their throat, creating controversy aka you're a natural nazi. I personally think it's unnecessary to preface our statements on such matters, because we all speak on behalf of ourselves and on our opinions, but like I said this is LHCF not nappturality

We just like looking at the hair porn (pictures) it's not about proving anything. :wiggle:

I identified with your inability to tolerate having straight hair after a stretched period of curly hair because of the resulting consequences. I remember when i was transitioning before my big chop i tried straightening my hair a few times and it wouldn't last more than a day before it started puffing up and frizzing all over the place, and if it was hot outside or humid ahahaha, I won't last more than an hr. Anyway, I think it was your last generalized statement that threw some ppl off, I don't think anyone took offense to it... that's a bit far fetched ;). At least I didn't.

Both permed and natural hair have their pros and cons, I don't think LHCF was meant to single out one hair style as being the better of the two. Pft I came here to gain some more tips on how to grow even longer and continually healthy hair, I definitely didn't expect coming across 'hair supremacy' debates..... :nono: and I certainly don't remember seeing any of these debates a couple of years ago while lurking ;/ ....

ugh i'm bowing out, I wanna perfect my henna concoction, :) you guys have fun debating between brainds, relaxed, natural and purple hair .ahahaha:lachen:

The board dynamics have changed so much. Sometimes it's like watching a car wreck in slow motion. LHCF is not the same place.

Wow @ this thread and the quote.

She's entitled to her opinion (even if I don't agree with it) just like folks with contrary views are entitled to theirs. :look:
