After spending the last 9 months heat free, I decided to straighten for many reasons. 1. That 1 yr anniversary in june doesn't work well for straight hair. 2. I thought it would be nice to have a professional cut my hair rather than me (needless to say I didn't get a trim).

Anyways, while most people enjoy their hair, swinging it and playing with it. I actually hated it. I was deeply disturbed with how much attention I had to give it. Constantly and currently keeping it up. Granted it survived this weekend's Nor'easter but I am in no means in a rush to straighten again. I felt like this was too much work.
Sorry relaxed & straight haired people, natural hair is EASIER.

So, okay, you stated an opinion on what works FOR YOU. It's not a fact for all. We, natural or relaxed, work to keep it up. But, good luck on your healthy hair journey.

girl, i been natural allllll my lifeee, and i feel so liberated to be texlaxed now!! wooooh i love it.

but im sorry you didnt have fun swinging your hair girl, but i love swinging mine!!

I feel uncomfortable if my hair is straight or more than three days. But It's not any harder to care for IMO. I just feel like my hair is more exposed to potential damage when its straight.

Even when I make my hair goals I will still only straighten every now and then.

:) Well you did spend 9 months without straightening your hair, it will be hard to get used to it the first time around. While I was natural I never straightened my hair besides one attempt because I was so petrified that I would damage it.... so 2 years no straightening. When I finally got tired of the daily upkeep and the amount of time my hair started to need as it grew longer, I decided to give perm another shot, I understood my hair now and I knew how to do it myself. Anyway, the first few weeks I thought I had made the biggest mistake of my life, lmao. And half the time I would wear it in a ponytail or bun. But these days, i've gotten used to it.

Anyway, I think that jumping to the conclusion that natural hair is easier from that one experience you had after 9 months of consistent curly hair is a bit unnecessary and -no offense -spoken with a hint of ignorance.

What you consider easy may be time consuming to the next person. But, of course, we are all entitled to our own personal opinions and it's all good, as long as you don't try to shove your views down someone else's throat.

:)

when i was natural, i hated to straigten my hair too tho. now i dont have to staighten. i hated the thought of pressing my hair between two very hot plates. so glad i dont have to do that, yippy!!

you might like straight hair the second time around.

But seriously, I have noticed that after a couple of days of wearing my hair straight, I'm so ready for it to be back to it's natural state. Because I swear I can hear strands snapping when they snag my sweater or whatever it is I'm wearing.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

OP, glad you found your comfort for you and your hair, nothing wrong with that.
I am natural, do not use heat or straighten, that's what works for me.
I wear a banded pony tail every once in a while, and it bothers me hanging down my back, but that's just me. ;0)

cosigning.

i felt the same way when i flat iron for the first time. now its rollerset city for me. no heat needed:grin:

Wow, sorry you had that experience, when I'm in the mood and I straighten my natural hair its awesome, I love swinging it, I love having it blow thru the wind, its one of the quickest styles for me to do and maintenence is soooo quick and easy.

I've found that typially straightening is only annoying or tedious if you don't have your technique down to a science.

If you had just left out that last sentence in bold I would have been with you 100%. It's just so annoying when anyone makes statements like that because it comes off as condescending and always seems to instigate negativity.

 Serious side eye. That last sentence was so unnecessary.

i agree ms.Feliz, but maybe she just had to vent , *but still, i wouldnt have said that sh.. tho. saying that in this forum is like a white man saying "nappy headed ho*" cuz peoples will come after you.

i just straightened mine for the first time in 7 mths (my avatar pic) and i must say that i love it! i was swinging my head so hard at work that you wouldve thought that i was going to break my neck! :lachen:
