Dominican Salon Goers--Bringing Products

Do you bring your own products with you? I have a few products I'd like to use up. I think this may be a good way to use up mediocre products.

Do you tend to bring higher end products or cheapie products?

Do you bring your medicated shampoos as well? I tend to wash with more than one shampoo (medicated and Creme of Nature) but I think I'd feel uncomfortable asking them to use two different shampoos.

Also, do you bring protein conditioners? I don't know if I want to ask them to use a moisturizing conditioner afterwards.

I know I asked a lot of questions but I want to use up some of these products!!!!

when i use to press my hair i had awful dandruff for some reason...i used to bring my selsun blue shapoo (dandruff shampoo) to my hairdresser and she washed my hair with that. I am relaxed now and when i go back home to the dominican salons i bring my own shampoo and conditioner.

Sunny....

My shampoo is actually a prescription shampoo for seborrheic dermatitis.....I don't want them to think/act like I have cooties or anything....

What shampoo and conditioner do you use now?

I bring everything u listed above except protein conditioners. I do my whole protein conditoner process at home myself, and then I go to the salon and just have them rinse the moisturizing conditoner out and roller set it.

P.S. They won't have any problem with your medicated shampoo. I've seen girls bring in shampoo for yeast infections and fungal growths on their scalp (I have no idea how that happens...). The other patrons react more strenously than the stylists. They may wear gloves is all. But not if it's just a dandruff shampoo .....

Do you bring your own products with you?
Always, always, always. I've been witness to many salons mixing shampoos or watering down shampoos and I just wouldn't trust it.

I bring whatever shampoo I feel like using. Whether it's my Aubrey Organics White Camellia Jasmine shampoo, Dabur Vatika Henna Cream shampoo, or infusium 23.

I also bring my own conditioners. Suave, Herbal Essences, etc.

Do you tend to bring higher end products or cheapie products?
I've brought both and have had great results.

Do you bring your medicated shampoos as well?
I don't. The only medicated shampoo that I use is Selsun Blue when the occasion calls. I don't bring it with me because you're supposed to leave it on for a few mnutes, and with most salons, they like to get you in and out as quick as possible. Also, my five minutes might not be the same as someone else's "five minutes".

Also, do you bring protein conditioners?
Many Suave regular conditioners have silk or milk proteins in them. As for deep conditioners, I always bring one.

thats soooo true, thats y they ask u "mami dis conditioner"

Yes...be it my elusence, a conditioner of choice for that week or my leave in. They don't mind and if they did that wouldn't be a place that would get my money. On ocassion I have even brought my own comb (those fine tooth combs are muuuurdaa!)

Ooohhh I've started bringing my own combs!! It is insane to take such care of your hair at home and then let them rip 1/3 of it out with the comb.

Tell me about it. That is the worst part...watching them roller set and looking at that skinny comb or worse even is the wrap brush. I have to put an end to that and just have her use a big "conditioner" comb. My Brooklyn stylist used to do that back in the day. I think I may have to reinstate that again.

My cousin in New York ONLY brings her shampoos and conditioners when she goes to the Dominicans. SHe won't let them used any of theirs!

Very true. I haven't been in a while but I used to bring my own deep conditioner. But when I go back I may bring everything- shampoo, conditioner, leave-in, comb and brush.
