Doing your own weaves

Has anyone done this? My cousin put some pieces in with bonding glue. It was a partial weave. It looked nice. Has anyone done this? Is it better or worse than having a stylist do it?

A friend of mine used to do the partial weave. It looked nice, but her problems would start when it came time to take them out. Some of her hair would come out with the weave peices because of the bonding glue still in her hair. Over time her hair got really jacked up and broken in the back. From watching that, I think bonding is bad news imo.

I've made a wig with a stocking cap and the glue, but it came out too big.

I figured out how to sew in my own this summer, and I probably won't pay a stylist to do mine ever again. I was so happy.
