Doing each other's hair?

Doing each other\'s hair?

What if all the LHCF members who couldn't relax their own hair, (and can't find a good stylist) but could do other peoples', made a deal to relax each other's hair? Just a thought.
Local "chapters" could form and match people up, heck, you could even have hair parties where a few heads are touched up and then everyone goes to lunch.

Re: Doing each other\'s hair?

Yeah, but you guys both already have stylists you can trust. I am sitting here with my hair breaking off (strands as long as 3 inches)...after I finally got it to shoulder length from never getting it past my chin!

Lol, I am not relaxed, I think mainly because I don't trust anyone with my hair..not even myself really. I do as little to it as possible, I see where you are coming from, it is a nice idea, but still a bit scary

Re: Doing each other\'s hair?

Great idea to me. I usually do my own but I would always overlap. Now Spicee1t is going to start doing my touch ups and I'm gonna help with hers. I'm sure we'll stop to eat somwhere along the way too.

Re: Doing each other\'s hair?

Lol! It sounds like a good idea, because I do know I was always scared of losing all my hair around relaxing time and that was the first reason why I went natural.

Maybe you could get like 10 ladies to all meet at one place and all do it in the same room. That way if any of the people who came were just a little shady, you would have other normal people there to deal with it.

Re: Doing each other\'s hair?

I would like to hope that no one who would show up to put a chemical in someone's hair would be shady.

Re: Doing each other\'s hair?

I was overlapped during my last touchup. See my "overlapped no-lye onto lye-processed hair" thread.

Re: Doing each other\'s hair?

Sorry to hear that. Have you tried an Aphogee treatment or Sebastian Penetraitt? The same happened to me and my hair broke off as well but I have seen others that have done it and their hair survived so maybe it is not necessarily a death sentence for your hair.

I'd do it in a minute. I'm very trusting. Just as long as I don't see a pair of scissors, I'm cool.

Re: Doing each other\'s hair?

Umsummayah,
I'd love it if we could braid each other's hair. Then we wouldn't have to worry about having the hair pulled too tight, the use of harsh dryers, brushes, and small teeth combs, and overpricing!

Any MD area braiders out there???

Re: Doing each other\'s hair?

I'm da bomb w/relaxing hair. Anyone in B-more need a relaxer. PM me! BYOR (bring ya own relaxer) And I'll do the rest ($15)

Re: Doing each other\'s hair?

I also have a stylist I can trust, but if there was someone here who did good relaxers in the St. Louis area, I wouldn't mind saving some money.

It's a slang term. skrate = straight , it's just like saying, "No thank you, I'm quite content with my current regimen."

Re: Doing each other\'s hair?

I think "skrate" just slang for straight.

As far as this idea, I think it's a good one. I'm so petrified about doing a relaxer myself, but I no longer trust stylists. And even if people don't want to have someone they don't know putting relaxer in, another idea might be to have a self-relaxer demo session. That way those of us chickens can watch someone that can do it and learn.

There's all kinds of demos that I can imagine. For example, doing a proper bun; the baggie method; a proper roller set; braidout; and on and on. It could be an LCHF workshop.

Re: Doing each other\'s hair?

Well Caramela, I'm not in Baltimore but if I can get someone to watch my kids I might be willing to take the trip up. If I ever try to do it myself or go to "nonprofessionals" again I plan on going back to African Pride. I never had shine like when I was using that stuff.
