My mother who has always had long flowing hair like a horses mane now has 3 inches of hair.
She had been natural for 60 years and recently decided to relax. After checking out several salons she made a choice to go to one that was recommended by some of her friends.
There she got a relaxer and then requested a trim. She stated the stylist kept commenting on how she could not live with all this hair. And she bet my mother had a hard time managing it. She also stated that the older we get the shorter the hair should be. My mother said she should have left right there. But decided to give her the benefit of a doubt since she was so highly recommended.
After the relaxer she proceeded to do what she called a trim. She took 6 inches off my mothers hair as she stated that this was a favor to her. "It makes it easier to comb ...she stated" My mother discontinued the service immediately. She refused to pay for the service and ever so eloquently put the stylist in her place.
Within the next week she noticed an excessive amount of hair breaking. I recommended that she rewash with a neutralizing shampoo that was color coded. Low and behold it changed colors.
The chemical had not been stopped correctly. This is why she suffered from so much breakage. She was distraught and decided to cut her hair off.
I am upset. I think that the stylist was envious. This is a warning just to say becareful who you get to do your hair regardless of who it is.
