Mine does. :( It mainly hurts when I comb it, but I have been noticing a lot of sore spots in my head too. I try not to scratch when it itches, and I pretty much co-wash at least every other day, so I don't get it. Anybody else have this problem, or any ideas on what might be the culprit? Please help!

Funny you should ask, I was going to post a thread on sore scalp and the causes. I tried to do a google search and I did a search on this forum, but didn't really come up with satisfactory results.

There seems to be mixed reviews: some site warn that sore scalp may be an indication of latent allergies associated with hair products that may have been dormant for a while and are now surfacing.

Others believe that having sore scalp or itchy scalp is merely a result of hair growth or going through a spurt.

Of course I prefer that the latter be the reason rather than the former explanation. I hope the soreness means that the hair is growing. I'm paranoid, though.

Anyone have ideas on what's going on here?

Yea I've heard that an itchy scalp can be b/c the hair is growing, but I haven't heard that associated with a sore scalp and hair hurting when you comb it. Hopefully some more people will chime in with responses. :)

I always get sore spots every now and then but I just massage it lightly,Since I have been doing the Baggy method my scalp has really started to itch so I guess my hair is growing LOL!! I also agree that it could be a growth spurt that cause some sore spots, because come to think of it when my hair is growing fast my scalp does get sore Uhmmmmmm!

But somethimes it could be the products, could be the comb scratching your scalp, Could be that growth spurt.

when my hair is growing my scalp hurts...I guess its that initial 'break thru" that i feel...it starts around 4-5 wks post relaxer....try not to comb it...hive it a break and allow it to grow w/o interruption;)

I don't know what it could be but I sometimes get sore spots on my head, mainly around my temple area.

Me either and me too! It does SEEM to be associated with new growth though.

So glad you made this thread, girl. I was experiencing a sore scalp last week. This happens, hmmm, maybe once a month or so. I don't think it is the products I'm using because when my scalp is "fine" and I'm using the same products, my scalp doesn't hurt. Growth spurt? I hope!

I guess the best thing to do is just leave the hair alone--low manipulation--until it passes.

I have it right now:mad: . I've been heavy on the SURGE 14, frequent FRUCTIS shampoos/conditioners, weekly recommended 2 minute Aphogee treatments, moisture, tulsi, gentle scalp massage, baggies half the night then only silk scarf. I leave my hair alone, no combs to the scalp..neaten the twist in morning, hair toy, boar brush edges..out the door.

I'm going to hope that it's just growing ultra-rapidly and leave it alone. ;) Thanks for the responses. Now I can stop driving myself crazy. :)

Sometimes I do get soreness in the crown area of my scalp. It doesnt always happen, just occasionally. I'd like to believe it is new hair pushing forward rapidly as well. :)

Hmmm...

I wonder if everyone here experiencing soreness is using either MTG, BT or some sulfur product.

I'm just curious is sulfur could be the culprit.

Most of the time I use very low manipulation but my scalp still gets sore. I wash once every two (sometimes 3) weeks and usually after a good wash my scalp feels better. Even when I wash more often my scalp still seems to be sore frequently. Who knows... I can only hope that it's growth.
