Does your hair get \"accostumed\" to conditioners?

I remember a post a while back about a suggesion that we should switch off conditioners (at least have 2) so that our hair does not grow "accostumed" to one. Now I have my conditioners for different purposed yes (leave in, moisturizing, protein) but I only have one for each category 'cause I'm not make of money honey. So would I need to get 2 in the moisturizing category and switch off or is that just a bunch of myths? How does your hair react?

Re: Does your hair get \"accostumed\" to conditioners?

I don't plan on stocking up on conditioners. My theory is, if your conditioner (or any product for that matter) stops working and nothing has changed in its composition, then you've got too much build-up on your hair and so the product isn't reaching where it needs to reach. Time to clarify....

well i would think running around and trying to find new conditioners every few months would not only be a pain, but it will also cause alot of headaches. for example alot of ppl. on here have ran into a few products that did "nothing" for their hair or wasn't thick enough and so one. to me it makes no sense to stock up on unsure items that might cause more hair problems than its worth. i've been using the SAME shampoo/conditioner/ cholsterol for at least 6 months now and my hair is fine. since my hair is finicky in terms of products i'd be asking for trouble to suddenly change up to the "unknown" i did this a few times and RUINED my hair.

i don't think you need to chage conditioners unless it is necessary. other than that, leave well enough alone.

Re: Does your hair get \"accostumed\" to conditioners?

This is my problem, since joining this board i have tried sooo many conditioners in search of the "right" ones and I have wasted so much money. THe good thing is I have found a few staples and I will try to stick with them and see the improvement of my hair. I think its a good idea to stick with the same products for awhile so u can see what it is doing for ur hair and after awhile u can look for something else. Also like Finechyna said, it is really a headache to look for a conditioner that u are totally satisfied with. Humm, I should keep this in mind everytime the PJ in me comes out!! Lord knows i can be an impulsive hair shopper

I think hair can get used to conditioners. It happened with my hair and Elucence. Now I rotate my conditioners.

I don't really think that your hair gets "accustomed" to a conditioner, but once you use it long enough to get the achieved result, you no longer see change in your hair (because the quality has improved). That is probably what they are talking about. But i think you should have one or two staple conditioners you use to maintain the good quality of your hair

Re: Does your hair get \"accostumed\" to conditioners?

I am a master "rotator" and I can say this much - the times when I have been too broke, or too short on time, or too focused on other things to focus on conditioner - nothing different at ALL has happened with my hair. As long as I'm using a Concentrated Protein, a Mild Protein and a Moisturizing/Instant conditioner - my hair is fine. It's the formulations that matter more on my hair than the brands.

Sometimes the performance DOES change in a conditioner - but I rarely use one long enough to get to that point.

I like to rotate my conditoners every month or so except my
reconstructors and protein treatments.

Re: Does your hair get \"accostumed\" to conditioners?

Ive been using Mizani moisturfuse for a good while now, and my hair is accustomed to it, in a good way.

Re: Does your hair get \"accostumed\" to conditioners?

I rotate conditioners too. Elucence and Pantene S&S stopped working so I just put it aside. I still love them though and will pick them up again in the future.
