having online hair sistas? What is their reaction when you tell them your doing a hair challenge? Or do you keep it to yourself? How do you deal with negative feedback?

Just curious, because the two friends I told think I'm

...even though otherwise they know better. They told me I need to stop...Do it look like I'm stopping??

(as much as me) But by then, I will have moved on to a new challenge...

Tekmommie,

My sister laughs and tells me to "GET A LIFE!"
It's funny to me though! She thinks it's unnecessary!
I guess she feels this way because her hair is 6 inches above her waist and she didn't even work at it!
I don't think I'm working at anything! I'm just more conscious and more informed about my hair, my diet, and the hair product choices I make! This site has made an impactful difference!

I like being a member of this forum because I can ask questions, learn new things about
HAIR CARE/HAIR PRODUCTS, etc...,and learn from other members experiences!

*I have my girlfriends taking vitamins/supplements and
reading the ingredients in hair products now!*

If feels good to know that I'm not in this alone!
Thanks Ladies!

Yes they definitely do. In fact, they get mad when I say anything about my hair now-a-days. I am told by my mother that I think too much about my hair. LOL and don't let me mention going to the bss or a hair product I want. My sister says that my hair probably will drop out from all the pampering I do to it. I had to ask them "what did my hair ever do to you?"; then they calm down a bit. It is to the point that I say stuff just to bother them or see what their reaction is going to be

. Mind you, my sister has hair that grows past her butt and is constantly cutting it whenever it grows back. I can only wish.

Nope don't really discuss anything with anyone anymore. There's too much negativity about certain things that people just don't understand. How can they knock the board or the techniques when they've never visited or put them into practice

But when you're growing mad inches everyone doesn't think it's too crazy anymore.

My sentiments exactly. It seems like when you tell people what you're doing...it invites them to say more negative things about your hair. The other day, I got a relaxer touch up and both my hair dresser and I were excited about how much my hair was growing. I saw my sister the next day and she had the nerve to ask me if I got my hair cut!!!

I said, "Why?" She said, "Because it looks shorter." I said, "Shorter than what?" Then she changed it up and said, "I guess you just have it in a different style." I said, "Yeah."

She knows I'm on this board everyday and am really trying to grow my hair out. She was clearly trying to be sarcastic. I walked away calm, but on the inside I was so

Even when I went back to work that day, people were telling me that my hair looked longer. It seems like the people that are closest to you, can be the most negative. That's why I choose to only talk about hair with my cyber sisters.

It's a shame that those closest to us, can't be more supportive.

Jen I thought you were gonna lay the smack down on your own sis from reading that.

"Shorter than what?"

She probably knew you just had a touch up as well. I don't understand why either.

Oh shucks, yes I do....Jealousy

For some people it's easier to diss than pay them a compliment.

My mother and my boyfriend both know and are very supportive, especially my b/f he indulges me and loves coming with me on trips to the bss. He bought all my vits. My mom pretty much does everything I say to do about her hair and we have a great deal going where she never visits a salon because I do her hair and she buys all the products my heart desires. Now for the folks at work -- hell no I ain't tellin them nothin!

My boyfriend is the only one supportive. He looves using all my conditioners that I didnt like anymore. He begs for them...it is soo cute.
Yesterday I was even saying that I could never in a billion years imagine having bra strap length hair(my hair is and always has been neck length)and he was like"I could see you getting there in 2 yrs"I know I prolly can't but he is just soo supportive.

My husband and his family thinks I am over doing because the type 4b hair can only grow to a certain length that why I am diffenently up for the challenge to prove them wrong

tekmommie...I don't even go there with my family. If they had any idea of how often I put my hair under some water, I'd never hear the end of it..."girl, you're washing your hair too much, you're gonna make it break off" (lol) I've mentioned the supplements that I take to a couple of folks and they think I've gone overboard.

So...I'm just gonna let my hair speak for itself.

my mother is usually very supportive of everythibg i do..not that she is not about this but she just looks and observes eveything i do and has no comment...but the other day she said i want to talk to you in a serious tone like she was about to tell me something real serious then she tells me that dont believe everything you see online...

and i am like okay kewl...i am an adult and can assess a situation logically and that i have been doing so for 20+ yrs and that this is no dif...then i am like mom..nothing i am learning is nothing that is crazy many of the things i learn are common sense its just blk women ppl havent experimened with healthy up keep of their hair..and now i am w/ the likes of other blk women... with that said since your hair is in the condition it is in you might learn a thing or two..i luv my mommy but i had to enlighten her in a respectful manner..simply LET ME DO ME AND YOU DO YOU...when my hair is healthy and long then you can say whateva your heart desires until then..i am not hurting anyone or my hair so...i am fine...she just continues to observe and i am fine with that...

If they think I am crazy, I can't tell. Everytime they have problems with their hair the call me! My mom is funny, everytime I buy something new, I have to share with her!

I've told my man and he thinks its great because he is a gadget freak and spends all his time surfing technology sites and product review boards, so now he's happy not to be the only obsessed one!

none of my family memebers are supportive taht much. Except my grandma. Everyone's knows. My brother is like what are you doing with hair sites. And like you are stupid. But it is all good. I get on the computer just to learn.
