Beauty IS skin deep.
I got my amla powder yesterday (I ordered it) and I notice that it's clumpy and has huge chunks of powder. Is anyone else's powder like that? Or, is it possible that my batch was bad?

Also, that stuff stinks!! Why didn't anyone warn me?

Sounds like moisture got into it. Was it in a sealed bag? My hesh amla powder comes in a bag that is sealed up like dry cereal.Yes that stuff does stink alone, but you can mask it with an essential oil. I made a shikaikai /amla infusion in coconut oil that smelled like cinnamon.

Yes, it did come sealed in a plastic bag. I'll probably end up ordering another box of it. I'm going to try and get the clumps out of this one though. I took it out and put it in a mason jar for easier access.

I'll take it if you don't like it

Let me clarify. I have a very sensitive nose, so I notice amla's scent. It smells herbal and like dirt to me. If it is really stinky and is clumped while in the bag due to moisture, I would discard it to be safe, because moisture has gotten into it and it could have unwanted bacteria/ decomposition, etc. going on. Better yet I would contact them and return or exchange it. It should be a uniformly brown colored dry very fine powder that will disperse in the air like baby powder. HTH

Hmmm...My Amla Powder doesn't stink at all....at the most if I inhale a lil too close, I end up having a sneezing fit! No clumps either! Did you order online or go to a local store??

I thought I was the only one sneezing a fit.

amla should not have a foul smell.... it smells like strong earth herbs ... if you smell to much it should make you sneeze...it should be a smell you can tolerate if your amla is clumpy and stinky i would not use it.......... something doesn't seem right:nono:

i use the nambrand Hesh and mix it with Shiki.powder

My amla powder doesn't have clumps in it, but for some reason, my shikakai
powder does. It's very annoying!

BTW, I try to remember to wrap a bandana over my face--from the nose
down--when I'm using these powders.

Hi Rosie, amla strengthens, conditions, cleanses, and even slightly darkens hair. If you search the board for amla you'll find loads of threads discussing the purpose and uses of amla powder and oil. It's a vast topic.
