Not that I know. The last time I wore one (sept-oct) I took it out and I had very few hair losses, I mean only the normal shedding for two months. But to be honnest, it was the first time I was doing it in 5 or 8 years.
I've only gotten a weave a few times and they have all been sew-ins. When my stylist braided my whole head for the sew-in, I had hardly any breakage. However, when she sewed in a couple tracks and left the majority of my hair out, that's when I found it to be damaging.
Weaves are all about application. A bad install will jack your hair up while a good install will help it to grow. The culprit is usually too tight braids. I would rather have a weave with loose braids that lasts a month than a weave with tight braids that lasts 3 months. Do not let someone braid your hair tight and you will be okay.
