I have a pink CHI but, I can't compare it to any of the other models because this is the first I've owned. I thought the only difference from the original was that is was pink.

OHHk, thanx , do u know if the outside gets reallly hot or does it stay fairly cool??, i know the black one is jjust plastic but the red one has insulation.....

Oh, I see. The outside doesn't get hot at all, no burnt fingers. 
ETA: But, now that I think about, the rare times I use it I pretty much keep my hands on the handle. I don't hold the base as I run it down my hair.

I have the pink Chi and it is just like the original, but pink. I hold the handle and haven't burned myself.
