My apartment comes with paid heat. I use a space heater to keep warm, because I have to have a blast of heat to stay warm. I get very cold easily.

However I think this is causing my hair to shed and or break and I had to shave my head back in Dec 06 to start over. I have little curly cues every where not to mention that my skin stays dry no matter what and my nails which normally grow hard and long practically over night have been brittle and will not hold length. I have upped my water intake to 75 0z have added a lot of protein to my diet. My hair goes dry quickly and I have follwed everything I now know for healthy hair... I do not know what to do. So could it be the heater? tia

Try taking some Flax Seed Oil, skin gets dry during the winter, and oily during the summer. Pair that with a good multivitamin and you should be good to go, this is what works for me.

I definitely think that you're missing moisture in your environment. (esp. if you're using electric heat). I would try adding some humidifiers...

I have the same problem because in my apartment there is nothing but dry heat. I bought a humidifier, began taking cod liver oil, and made sure to sleep with my satin bonnet. All I need to do now is to get a haircut.

Sorry, this of off topic...but Glossy you and your hair are beautiful!

Anywho, I sleep with a space heater and I use one at work so I need to pay attention and see if it drying my hair. Now my brother sleeps with a fan at his head and a heater at his feet but he's crazy!

I take flax seed oil and fish oil at night I take it in pill form, maybe I should try liquid. I sleep on a satin pillow case.

I am seriously looking into buying a humidifer. I have heard great things about it. I agree maybe this will balance things out. Thanks ladies for the help.

Aww thanks so much. I am currently trying to grow out my highlights now cuz my hair is hurting from it.

Definitly think about getting a humidifier. I have one in my office which has helped and going to put another in my bedroom.

Electric and forced hot air heat is really drying all the way around. being that its also been so dry outside its not helping matters.
